Spirit Jerry, October 1, 1998 to October 3, 2008

Jerry, has it really been three years since the last moments when we rubbed your velvety ears and smelled your sweet puppy breath?

Jerry memento at Sea Dog BreweryTime moves so fast, but your spirit, your lessons, your life, stay forever young and always a part of us. Even as you soar through the heavens, you continue to do your job, spreading the word about all that really matters in life . .

Like when you paid a visit to our friends who were visiting Bangor, Maine, a few weeks ago. They knew you from the PBS show, but never got the chance to meet you in pawson. One day they decided to grab a beer, and being dog people that they are, decided to head downtown to visit the Sea Dog Microbrewery.

As they roamed the bar to check out the dog mementos, something made them look up on a wall full of pictures. And who, out of the hundreds of photos tacked to the wall, barked out to them?

You! In this early Tripawds business card that we left in the bar, the day you hopped in on all threes and charmed all the bar flys, back in September, 2007.

Thank you for making our friends smile, and bringing back so many good memories of that momentous occasion when you reached the East Coast, despite all odds.

Fear not, brave Spirit Jerry. For today we will will not grieve, or cry.
We will cast aside our tears and celebrate your life!
Here's to you, a very special pup who will go on living in the hearts of many,
from sea to shining sea.

Beautiful tribute to a dear friend. Tonight we will lift a pint in honor of Jerry and his contribution to our lives. Thanks, Jerry for being there when we were facing some of our darkest hours. I don't know if we would have made it through without you!

I wish I could give you some BIG kisses!
Abby

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Awwww. So many wonderful videos of Jerry.  He certainly does guide us through on dark days even if some of us didn't get to meet him.

I have to ask…what was it with trees that made him want to tear into them!??

I am so personally grateful to Jerry and to Jim and Rene for starting Tripawds- giving us a place to go for support.  So many of us would be going through this alone otherwise.  It is such a blessing to have this site and be able to form these friendships.  Thank you Jerry, for inspiring your pawrents, and us!  We appreciate it so very much and are fur-ever grateful!

Hi Jerry and family

Time is so fickle. Three years seems like a lot sometimes. But it also seems like nothing, at least when I think of it right now. I don't think I realized how recently you had been with us in 'visible form' when Tazzie and I started through it all less than a year later. Gosh – your parents memories must still be fresh.

As others have said – where would we be during our journeys if you hadn't inspired your parents to begin this?

Last week I had the opportunity to listen to a talk from a woman who plays the harp and ministers to hospice patients. She has sat with hundreds in their final moments. Listening to their conversations with others sent to greet them while asking questions about their experiences. My two favorite parts of her talk were…

1…yes dogs DO go to HEAVEN and yes they are there waiting to greet you….and sometimes they help usher you there.

2…yes there are Angels, sometimes they are seen in shades of blue and sometimes silver and…they are dancing, always dancing, rejoicing that you are comming home

So in my head while listening, I picture Basil being whirled by Angels excited to see him!

I bet Jerry is dancing with the Angels too..along with all of his other favorite things…until you meet again!big-blink

Oh Jerry, we bin thinking about you today. Hate to be repetitive but you started it all for the rest of us. You were your pawrents inspawration and without you and them so many of us would probably not be here. I just had my 6th birthday–same as yours! And my pawrents never woulda kept my little foster self if they had not run across tripawds.com and learned that three-legged dogs totally R.O.C.K!

Here's a link to the latest tripawd GSD to cross GSRNC's door, well maybe. http://www.peth…..SL.A330966 He needs a temperament eval first and another group might take him. But we probably would not even be considering him were it not for you! Another chapter in your Leg-A-Cy Big Guy! I hope you are proud, and I know you are looking out for tripawds everywhere.

Who loves ya big dawg? WE DO!!!!

Thanks everyone. It's truly heart-warming to know how many lives our furry soul mate has touched.

As for the trees, well… it must have something to do with the BARK! laughing
