OOOOOH!

We are taking a Nose Work class right now- I could substitute a Truffle for the treats I'm using and get her trained up.  I heard from our Nose Work trainer that people do train dogs for this.  I don't think we have any of the good kind around here though...

Update posted to Elly's blog!

She decided to have breakfast in bed last Sunday.  See the Blog Post for the whole story.

Be sure the sound is up so you can hear her crunching!

Awwwwwww! She's so gentle and delicate with it! So sweet. Love the close up of her face at the end. But... are those UNEATEN pizzle sticks in her bed??? UNEATEN pizzle sticks???? Better not show Elsie and Meg; they'll be trying to climb in through the screen.

Heading over to the blog for further information...

Gentle and delicate! That is part of why Sunday was so unusual- she generally knocks the thing all over the living room and is done in just a few minutes.

And good eye Clare- those are bully sticks,  Elly is a hoarder!  Quad pug Obie is only allowed bully sticks with direct supervision- as in someone has to hold the thing so he doesn't swallow a big piece. Luckily since Obie abandoned me that is my dad's job. Elly usually won't take a new stick but she sits and watches Obie chew on his.  Obie can never eat much of one so when he stops chewing on it dad drops it on the floor.  Elly then swoops in, grabs the stick and takes it upstairs to her cache. She chews on one of them while I'm cooking dinner and when we are cleaning up the kitchen.

Oh Elly! You really know how to do "easy like Sunday morning". This is such a sweet video.heart

Loved hearing about Obi too. No, I can never do any type of bully stick with Myrtle either. If anything gets in that mouth her she tries the "one gulp gone" method!

But why has Obie "abandoned" you?

Sally,

My dad and I have been living together now for about 2.5 years.  Almost two years ago we were living at my old house and one night at bedtime Obie left my room and went to my dad's room.  Dad said 'what do I do?'.  I said 'if you want him to sleep with you then keep him, if you don't put him back in my room and close your door".  Ever since then Obie has really been my dad's pug (except when he needs to go to the vet or the groomer smiley).

They are really a great match!

Elly is sooo cute doing her food puzzle! Crunch & crunch. She has is it figured out & does not waste any time!

We got Purrkins a ball food puzzle and it was not a hit. We tried again & got him a Trixie activity center. Both cats have it mastered already. Its fun to watch them non the less & it helps Purrkins with his core muscles.

Anyway I was looking at other ones to add later and thought of Elly. I don't know if you have looked at the trixie ones or not just sharing if you have not. They have differnt levels so you can change them up once they are mastered. I was looking at some of the dog ones too, I think our guys might be able to handle the dog ones. Will see;)

Heres a link , Im thinking you already have them or looked at them anyway;)

P.S.

pug or no pug Elly is perfect , smart, talented & adorable!

THAT is a really cool game! But I can totally see Wyatt Ray chomping it to bits. He's not nearly as delicate as Elly! Do you think it's strong enough for his big ol teeth and paws?

Holly,

Thanks for the link- we actually do have one of the Trixie puzzles, Elly knocks it out pretty quick as well as the Dog Twister game. They are both good for her core and balance so they are in the regular rotation.

It's funny what captures a dog or cats interest.  Obie used to be really excited about his Tug-a-Jug and was really good at twister.  Now he doesn't like the Twister game and doesn't try that hard on the Jug.  It could be his age, he is 10.5, or the fact that he can get treats out of Grandpa pretty easily!  Elly has a bottle toy I made for her that she has to tip up to get the treats out.  Since she learned how to do that I can't give her the Tug-a-Jug because she just tips it up and pours the treats out.  Quad pug Tani could never figure out any of the food games- she did have a brain injury so maybe that's why she never could get it. However- when I got Tani I lived in a little house that had some old almond trees.  Tani figured out on her own that there was something she could eat inside... she would peel off the husk, crack the shell and then eat the almond!

Here is Tani 'playing' twister:

Image Enlarger

Rene- they do make bigger versions of the mushroom toy- I don't know how much 'bite' they would take.  Elly does pick hers up by the lip of the cap as you see in the video- it's pretty thin.  I would worry with WRD that he could get a good grip on that lip and it might crack.

It is very interesting what they will work for and what they will not! I would love to know the reasoning LOL
I would definitely say Obie is just too smart and knows Grandpa will provide treats without working for them!

Tani Wow that is really impressive peeling and cracking the shells to get to the almond. She chose her own food puzzle.

I do think the treat or food has to be worthy for them to work for it.
We changed to some freeze dried salmon treats and they will go crazy until each treat is gone.

Rene, I would be terrified with Wyatt I think he would be end up destroying and eating the plastic mushroom 😳 I can still see the pie plates🤢

Awww....vood to see sweet Tani again. Always love reading about your Pugs...past, present, and knowing there will always be some Pugs or Pugish Wolfish in the future 🙂

Yeah, if it's plastic Merry Myrtle wants to shred it! Can't imagine what she would do if it harboured a treat!
