I just wanted to announce that Cadence went for her 3rd course of Carboplatin and big check up this past Tuesday where they do X-rays of the lungs, check out the lymph nodes and do blood work and nothing has made visible spread and all blood counts are normal. We are really blessed. The only side effect she has had from the chemo is that she doesn't eat the first day after. She loses her appetite but I will take that! Being a poodle usually the hair thins out and that hasn't either. She is lush and soft. I attribute that to her diet. Her actual three month ampuversary is on October 29th. Her amputation was on July 29th and we picked her up on the 30th from the surgery. The funny thing is her 7th birthday is October 30th too so we will have two reasons to celebrate! Yeah Cadence! way-cool

Cadence Faye: Born 10/30/04, stepped into our hearts 12/23/2004. Rear leg tumor found 7/24/11 by mom and dad, Xray on 7/25/11, Osteosarcoma suspected 7/26/11, amputation 7/29/11, Carboplatin started 8/23. Met free so far!

woohoo!  Go Cadence!!

Spencer just had his 4th treatment yesterday and is doing great.  :-)  How often does Cadence go?  Spencer is on 5, three week cycles.  So he goes every week, gets one drug (Mitox) on week one of each cycle, then vincristine on weeks 2 and 3. (spencer had a fibrosarcoma, not osteosarcoma.)

It really is amazing to see them still being themselves and flourishing even with all of this going on!

Jac and Angel Spencer.  Spencer was 5.25 years old. He fought a grade 3 fibrosarcoma, started on his shoulder.  Left front leg amputated in August 2011.  15 weeks of chemo finished 12/22/11 (mytox and adria).  Lung mets found on x-rays 12/28/11.  Started carboplatin 1/6/12. Went to Heaven on 2/27/12. I miss him like crazy every day.  See his blog here:  http://spencer.tripawds.com/

Hooray Cadence! That all sounds like great news!

It will be Abby's one year ampuversary on the 29th so we will be pawrtying with you!!

Hope she continues to do well.

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Thanks all for your well wishes. She is on Carbolplatin and goes once every three weeks. We are doing supplements and have switched her over to a raw diet too. She was so thin around the time of surgery and has actually started to fill out. She looks really good and we are pleased.

Oh fabulous!!! What a great way to kick off the weekend.

We would love to hear more about her diet. Wanna share it with everypawdy in the Tripawds Nutrition blog? Send us a short 500 word article via the PM system and we'll spread the word.

So much good news today, this is so nice!

Yay Cadence!! So happy you got a great mid treatment test results! It's such a relief to know that things are going the right direction and she only has minimal side effects to the chemo.

Lylee just had her 5th Carboplatin treatment and had good news from her 3rd treatment tests.

You're doing great Cadence!
