I was just surfing, but thanks for the advice from Scout. He is a 4 1/2 year old beagle mix who survived a car accident but lost his left arm and got a plate on his right leg. He's now on chemo for lymphoma – toughest little guy I ever knew! But he has gained more weight than he can handle on his little front leg, and is getting so tired just going short distances. He will be off the steroids soon so I hope the extra weight will come off quickly, but it's nice to hear that patience and training will help.

OfflineWelcome Scout!
WOW! You've been through a lot! I hope you can join us by sharing all of your experiences! You can even start a blog! (which is tons of fun!)

Sorry, if I confused you as a new member by moving your posts to a brand new topic but it would have gotten lost in the mix of an old topic discussion! Plus, I am new as a moderator and it was my first post I got to move and I'm feeling pretty proud of myself for being able to do it!
Comet - 1999 to 2011She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.

OfflineHi Scout….my goodness you are a strong & brave boy and what a great pawrent you have that takes good care of you. Glad to hear that you have found some good info at the site. We all have different stories, but the education and support found at Tripawds makes a big difference!
I would love to see a photo of Scout, take good care and keep us informed of his progress.

OfflineHey Scout, thanks for finding us and saying hello! You are one tough Beagle, and we're glad you're on the mend.
Yeah, getting off the steroids should definitely help. Staying slim is critical for Tripawds of all sizes, it just makes life so much easier.
I agree, a photo is definitely in order!
(you done good, Comet, thanks!).

OfflineWelcome Scout! We love new members, but wish they didn't have cancer to deal with. But this is the place for lots of great discussion, sound advice, shared sotries, and super, duper support for the pawrents (and pawds).
