Hello fellow Tripawd parents,

I would like to introduce my baby girl Trinity to everyone. She is a front left amputee from 10 days old.

Her mother was abandoned pregnant in the woods during the cold months of Feb where she had her pups, 8 in all. Her poor mother gave everything she had to help her pups to the point where mom was emaciated, cold and hungry. Thank God a good citizen called a local no kill shelter that we happen to support and have adopted two dogs from in the past. They picked up mom and pups at one wk. old. The second day in the shelter a worker noticed my baby girl was not nursing and all alone by the wall. It was discovered that her front left leg was swollen and had a large open wound that was so severely infected. She wasn't able to move around to cuddle or nurse with mom or her siblings. She was taken to the Vet where they found a broken femur that they believe was caused by a bite. it was determined that the only way to save her life was to take the leg and even then she was given a 20% chance to live. She had her surgery and that same shelter worker who noticed her leg took her home to take care of. Many many prayers from supporters of the shelter as well as me were sent around for her to one, live and two get better. Well she made it through the night and the next night then a week. I didnt really hear much about her from then because that shelter received two more pups one with a rear amputation and one that had to be amputated, what are the odds. That same worker had all three at her home caring for and feeding with a bottle all of them at once. This is an extrodonary woman that i believe is a Guardian Angel. she does so much for this organization and almost never says no.

A month and a half go by and I had to say goodbye to my beloved poodle Scooter, he was 15yo blind and had SARDs, I still had two dogs my Doberman Seanna and my Lab Rufus both 9yo. so I wasnt really looking for another dog or so I thought!

One day while on facebook I saw two of the amputee pups pictures and a notice that they will be ready for adoption in two wks any one interested should submit their applications and essays now for selection. I havent thought of that one little pup we prayed so hard for in 7 wks. That weekend we brought food to the shelter and said hello to all the animals just as we always do when we go there. In the back is a private room for employees only. The door was open and a woman was sitting on the floor with kittens. My son asked if he could see them, she agreed. When I caught up to my son he was in that rm with employee feeding very tiny kittens with a bottle. As I talked with her about the kittens a loud yapping and cry came from this playpen on the other side of the room. I went over and there she was that very same pup that was given 20% chance. I knew then and there she was mine. I was selected to adopt her which made me, my family and my other dogs so very happy!!!

We named her Trinity, she is almost 6 months old now and is probably one of the best behaved puppies I have ever had. She was potty trained at 4 months and really she only chews her toys, maybe one or two corrections when she thought she could chew a throw rug but she hasnt done it since.

Im sorry for the length of the story but Im so proud of my baby girl. I am hoping to learn from all of you who have gone before us with your tripawds. Any and all information I can get would be greatly appreciated.

Now that she is bigger I was looking at the harness on this site that is recomend for front tripawds. Does any one have experience with it?  Thank you in advance for all of your help!!!

Eileen and Trinity.

Hi Eileen and Trinity, welcome! Oh my gosh what a survivor she is! No need to apologize for sharing her amazing story, we love tails of survival like this. And wow she won the lotto when she got adopted by you!

Do you have any photos to share? Here's how to share photos in the Forums.

I think a lot of folks would be really curious to hear about how she did as a very young puppy Tripawd. Can you share more details about her mobility during her first few months of life?

As for the harness, here's some forum topics with member experiences. Hope it helps.

Thanks for joining, your future posts won't need approval.

Oh my gosh, what a great story!!!

Murphy is a front tripawd, and he wears the roughwear harness.  I love the handle on the back that helps when he's jumping out of the car.  It does slip around some, but I just pull it back.  There is a newer one, though, since I bought his 2 years ago, that has a strap that goes across the chest.  It probably sits better.

Welcome to tripawds!

Murphy had his right front leg amputated due to histiocytic sarcoma at 7 years old. He survived 4 years, 2 months & 1 week, only to be taken by hemangiosarcoma at 11 1/2 years 6/12/17

Hi Eileen and Trinity.....and Seanna and Rufus!

Well it looks like your beloved Guardian Scooter thought you needed a puppy...a tripawd puppy! Scooter obviously was well loved and well cared for...15 years young!!

My Frankie is a front leg tripawd. Here is a picture of him in his harness. It's the same kind as Donna has for Murphy. It does slip aroun some as, obviously, there is nomleg to prevent it. Knowing you that bit of slillage can happen, you are able to watch for. It certainly seems to work very well overall though.

Can't wait to hear more about Trinity...with pictures!!

Hugs to all! Every dog who has a forever home with you is a mighty lucky dog!

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle too!

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
