OfflineHow's that for amazing news?! Tshuvah and I (and our cat Zevi) hit the road from Chicago last Thursday and drove for 2.5 days. She was a traveling champ, sat next to me in the passenger seat the whole way and added to her national fan club at every stop. So we've been home since Saturday night; she was standing up making her monkey grunts as we drove up the driveway, she knew we were back.
She's still hanging in there, bless her heart. Not much stamina, but we go on short walks (with our cat, he refuses to leave Tshuvah's side) twice a day, and to the park where she can continue to meet and greet. Now that we're back in the wilderness we have access to the elk and buffalo jerky that she missed in Chicago. She ate a whole package of elk jerky for dinner tonight.
She has so many tumors on and under her skin that I've lost count so I know her cancer is progressing rapidly, as one would expect with hemangio. I can only imagine, although I try not to, what her insides look like. Something tells me we've got about 2 weeks left together. So as I've said before, we're trying our best to live each day so there will be no regrets.
I just wanted to let y'all know that she made it home and I'm so grateful. Now she can be laid to rest next to our dear Yesha and that little bit is a little tiny blessing.

Sounds like Tshuvah is getting some tasty treats! Keep spoiling her and enjoy every moment you can. Even the little ones tend to be extremely memorable.
Chloe and I would love to honor Tshuvah by adding her name to the back of the shirt I am making for a K9 Cancer Walk in October. We are writing the names of dogs who have been diagnosed, are survivors, or have passed away from cancer in order to honor and walk for them at the event. Tshuvah will be in good company with 41 other dog names that people have given me through the tripawd website. If you would like to check out the shirt, here is the link to my forum topic. If you would like me to add her name please leave a comment in the forum below. Thanks!

OfflineTshuvah is a special girl. She didn't want you to make that long drive with just the cat for company. So glad you all returned home, I know that is a comfort to you. You have done such a wonderful job caring for her. Elk treats for dinner – it can't get any better than that!
Keep living the good life for as many days as you have left. The memories are what will carry you when the journey does come to an end.

I'm so happy for you and Tshuvah! And of course for Zevi, too!
Enjoy each moment with your girl. We're glad she made it through the travels to Chicago and back, and that she was there to keep you company for the long drive home. We hope your sister is doing well, too. Were you happy with the vet you found in Chicago? Did you need to bring Tshuvah to the vet while you were up here?
Still keeping all of you in our hearts.
Sending big hugs,
Holly, Zuzu and Susan

OfflineThanks everyone! Let's see…we were happy with the vet we had come to the house, her name was holly casperson and she is a mobile vet out of Lake Bluff. Thankfully she only had to come the once. My sister is doing well. Her daughter (Liza) was born on Aug 23 at 38 weeks, after going through three of my sister's chemo treatments while in utero. She is in perfect health, thank God. My sister was given one week to recover from delivery before starting chemo again. She's just amazing. Her blog is: supportingsara.blogspot.com if anyone is interested in learning about her journey with breast cancer diagnosed during pregnancy.
Thanks again for the loving support. Off to enjoy another day with Tshuvi. Beth

OfflineAwww Beth, bravo for all of you!
It's wonderful to hear all of your news!! Tshuvah and your sister are truly courageous women and we salute their strength and spunk! And I'm sure Little Liza got a lot of that passed on to her too.
How amazing that a baby can go through chemo, that still blows my mind. Who knew?
We're just so glad to hear you're home. Enjoy!!

OfflineBeth … I'm thrilled to read your sister and Liza are doing well! They will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers!
How wonderful that Tshuvah is back home. It must bring some peace to have her back there.
I was going through some of Harley's stuff today, and I came across of box of Yunnan Baiyao capsules; I thought of you and Tshuvah right away. I, originally, read about it on Dr Dressler's Dog Cancer Blog (when I was desperately searching for anything that could help with Harley's low platelet count and him not bleeding out). It is a Chinese herb mix that helps to stop bleeding. My Vet was, of course, not familiar with it, so he did a VIN search and it seemed the general consensus was that it seemed to have some validity, but it had not been scientifically proven in the "West"; it, also, did not seem to have side effects, so we gave it a try. Did this help Harley live longer with basically no platelets and not bleed out? Who knows. But thought I would pass the info on to you … maybe it could give you some extra time. It was easy to locate (here in Madison, at least) … I found it at an herb shop and also at a Chinese Acupuncturist's office. I don't remember what it cost exactly, but it was less than $10 for a box of 16 capsules.
Here is the link to Dr Dressler's blog posting and the article from the U of M College of Veterinary Medicine he mentions …
