Yay for a successful surgery! Woo hoo! That's a major hurdle.

I know you'll be really excited to go home, just take it easy OK? There will be lots of playtime when you're all healed up. Keep us posted.

Glad to hear his surgery went well!  The longer he stays at the vet, the easier on you…trust me :)  Hoping he is better today!

We were able to pick shiner up on Friday, He had a pretty large seroma that was a little shocking and some pretty bad bruising. Helped him walk with the towel trick Friday night and sat. Sunday he was doing pretty good on his own. I could tell he was starting to feel a little better as he kept trying to move around more and no longer wanted to sleep near the couch with us. At this point the seroma still fairly looks bad to me. Out vet suggested keeping his movements restricted somewhat to let is discipate, Last night we tried a 25mg pill of acepromazine we had left over from a long trip, it knocked him out TOO much, He weighs 105# so we figured 25mg wouldn't be too much.

A few questions, Should I keep him crated? He is a strong puppy and when he hears something he likes to take off and if I'm not a couple feet away I cant catch him until he has sprinted to the door or something, hoping that this seroma gets absorbed I would like to do something and I don't think the acepromazine is the right way. The Dr. we have been dealing with is off Sunday/Mondays so you guys are the most experienced that I know of!

Glad to hear he's home. Yeah, the seroma thing is pretty nasty but at least you had a head's up and knew what it was (we were clueless when it happened to us).

We aren't vets, so take our thoughts with a grain of salt. But IMHO Ace isn't the way to go. Ace lowers a dog's blood pressure tremendously and after a major surgery like that you don't want to mess with vital functions any more than necessary. If he is so rambunctious that he needs to be zonked out like that, I would definitely crate him. Over-activity can make a seroma worse by causing more fluid buildup.

Are you home with him all day today?

I went into work 2 hours late and my fiance will be going home 2 hours early so he will be in his crate on his own for about 4 hours today.

Issues with Shiner's suture. He broke out of his kennel one day last week and licked his suture quite a bit. bad enough to where we had to reschedule. As of last night apparently he would stick his suture on his bed then push himself so his suture slides on the bed thus opening up the suture. So off to the vet go.

So stressful, haven't had much sleep so this doesn't help. Wish it would just heal up. Oh yeah, we think hes got a UTI as well.
