This is every rescue dog's DREAM! Look at that face, it's a look of pure contentment and joy. She's found her forever home and she know what love feels like. WOW!

Yes we would love to have her in the Tripawds Calendars!

And if you ever want to share her story for Tripawd Tuesday, private message me with her story and some more adorable photos.

What a great update, thank you for taking time to let us know.

Life IS Good!

Just love how happy and content she looks.

My first two pugs also spent a lot of time at my parents house- it was great for all concerned.

You people are a lot smarter than I am. You knew all along, didn't you?

Yes, Chi is coming home to where she belongs, with us 🙂

I can't wait to have her back! I pick her up on Saturday. Sadly, I'm then off travelling for two weeks, but she'll be fine with my husband and the other monsters (my Labs) for two weeks until I'm back. I fully expect her to be hogging the pillow on the bed within minutes of being back with us.

We're going to change her name, too - I was never the biggest fan of "Conchita", but my Mum wanted to keep it. Suggestions on a postcard! 😀

Awww... that is so exciting! You must be thrilled, I know that girl means the world to you!  New name, eh? That might be a challenge at this stage in her life, then again maybe not. Maybe something that sounds somewhat similar but different . What are your other dog's names?

I am so happy, and my husband is besides himself!

She was actually never called Conchita - that was a mis-hearing on my part. Her given name in the shelter was Coixeta (which means "cripple"). It's never a bad idea to change a rescue dog's name, anyway, because it will have links to the dog's past. Conditioning a new name is easy - just pair it with food 😀

My other dogs are Willow (black Lab), Shadow (yellow Lab) and Luna (chocolate Lab - aka Squidge).

That's right, I remember now that you had neat names for them. Was trying to think about something that would blend with them yet bring out her personality. I would def change that name in a heartbeat!! ugh

She is such an angel, looking forward to seeing more pictures way-cool

It's been a bit manic here of late, which is why I've only just got round to updating.

I went to pick her up on Saturday 7th April. Amazingly, friends who had been looking after her for a couple of weeks drove her halfway through France so I didn't have to go all the way back to the UK from Andorra - a bonus, as I was flying out on the Sunday and that drive might have just killed me! As it was, it was a sixteen-hour round trip by myself, but it went smoothly enough. When I got out of my car at the service station where we were meeting, I could see her looking at me and slightly wagging her tail. I crouched down and let her approach me, which she did, a little hesitantly - before exploding into a fit of wriggles and licks. My friend just burst into tears at the sight. She said Chi had seemed happy while staying with her, but she hadn't seen her that happy. I opened the car door to put her things inside and she jumped straight in, making it very clear that she wanted to come home with me!

We drove back to Andorra, where the other dogs greeted her with gusto, and we all slept as one happy bundle in the living room. That is, I was crunched up on our three-seater sofa with Chi, Squidge, Shadow and my husband, while Willow, Duchess that she is, stretched out full-length on the two-seater sofa rasberry

The next morning was a bit of a blur, as J packed up the car, took the dogs and headed to our home in Spain, while I cleaned, closed up the apartment in Andorra and then headed away on my travels to Canada.

Fast forward to Tuesday 24th and I arrived back in Spain. J unleashed the hounds from the house - the three Labs went completely bonkers to see me, full of wags, kisses and smiles.

Brief interlude to watch a video taken last year of Willow smiling...

Hehe, she cracks me up. Chi does the same thing but looks completely demented. I'll try to capture it on video, here's a bad photo I took last year when we arrived on the day we took her away from the shelter:

Anyhow, I digress. The Labs were full of bounce to see me, but there was no sign of Chi. I poked my head inside the door and there she was, sat on the sofa like the royalty she is.

"Hi Chi!"

*tentative wag of the tail* ... "Is it really you?"

I sat down next to her so she could smell me.

"OHMIGOSH! IT IS!!! IT'S REALLY YOU!!!!!", as she landed in my lap and I got covered head to toe in Chi kisses. big-grin

She's not left my side since then. She's a content girl, with a huge grin spread across her face.

In the language of Grey's Anatomy, I think the simple truth is that I'm her "person". Other people will come and go but I'm the one she's meant to be with.

Lovely update, so it is 💖

SO thrilled to hear how you all got together, a happy, loving family and, boy, oh boy, does Chi love you to bits 💞💞💞💞

The video of Willow laughing is totally hilarious and getting it slow motion was really clever!

Yes, that family picture with all doggies posing for the camera has to be put in a frame!

Quite amazing how all of them are quietly giving us their best smiles 😍

Sending you a big, big hug and tons of cuddles to your gorgeous pack 😘😘🐮💫✨🌟🌹

Ps is Chi going to be Chi’s name in the end🧜🏻‍♀️?

Hello again!

Chi is now Juniper, which is "ginebre" in Catalan, and we call her Ginny for short. Since we're rather partial to a G&T in this house, it seems quite fitting!

All is still going very well. In preparation for the snowy winter to come, I've started introducing grippy boots for her to wear. I've just used one on her front for now, for a couple of minutes at a time to get her used to it. Today was the first day she realised she could still bounce along normally, without her leg going round in a complete circle!

She can't manage long walks and gets quite stiff if we overdo it, so she has a couple of short walks each day and then I take my Labs out afterwards, leaving her at home. At first, she would bark when left, but she's settled down now and will snooze while we're gone, understanding that we'll be back soon. She's just so much more settled generally. She's been put on anti-anxiety meds because she is very wary of my husband still, which is heartbreaking as he is so good with her and tries so hard. It's early days, but we're hoping that the drugs, combined him feeding her and stroking her (which she loves and will pester for more if he stops) will replace the nervousness with good feelings towards him.

Not to rest on my laurels, I've been back at the shelter and, working on my "save one dog at a time" principle, have been looking for a home for this handsome little man, Alex:

I'm happy to say that someone approached me about rehoming him and we're driving him over to the UK in a couple of weeks to meet his furever family! I don't know who's more excited, me or his new Mum (I guess most of you would say "mom")! The shelter is full of amazing dogs who don't deserve to be in there. I'm overjoyed to be able to play a part in Alex's happy ever after.
