It's been a good day again. I'll post some more videos and pictures later, but had to show you guys this one, as it just happened a few minutes ago. Sebastian still has lots of positive energy. The vets say the end may be near, but his spirit will definitely live on.

That a boy Sebastian-you get that squirrel.  It's one of Bubba's favorite things to do too.  I love your videos and seeing the energy Sebastian has and how happy he is.  heartheartheart

SPECTACULAR EXAMPLES OF SEBASTIAN THOROUGHLY ENJOYING BEING SEBASTIAN!! 🙂 🙂    These make me sooooo happy!  🙂 🙂

Sorry MoJo, but it looks like three legged Sebastion can out run you and out "squirrel jump" you!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂

I love how you are  capturing these everyday "living life to the fullest" snippets  of Sebastian flowing joyfully from one gloriously happy  moment to the next!!

As far as the Vet making projections about the "end being near", it's clear he was thinking about that squirrel and not Sebastain!!!   Not sure of his ddefinition of "near", but it's clearly not Sebastian's definition!!   Many of us have been here long enough to know those kinds of  "blanket statements" are NOT based at all on the individual dog, his determination, his attitude, his zest  for life, as well as the individualized care that their hooman gives!   So kick that thought to the curb and let these videos show you how well Sebastian is doing!! 🙂    AND SEBASTIAN IS DOING REALLY, REALLY WELL!! 🙂 🙂 🙂

Like everyone we are all grinning ear to ear as we watch SEBASTIAN BEING SEBASTIAN!!! 🙂 🙂   Thank you for the smiles....and keep 'em coming!! 🙂

WOW! Sebastian still has that fire in his belly and a sparkle in his hop, I love it! Thank you for sharing Jon, keep on showing us the videos. Obviously Sebastian has many more critters to regulate, that boy ain't done yet! 🙂

Wow! Look at that energy! Man that squirrel made it just in the nick of time, lol! I love watching them, they are so sweet and such happy puppies! I can't believe how agile Sebastian is, I could just watch them all day. Smiling ear to ear here, thank you 💘

Sebastian and Mojo have got that squirrel chasing thing down pat!!! That squirrel is such a tease!

When we knew that our cat Mojo had cancer, we were given a very short period of time with him... I obsessed on that time and it made my precious moments with my boy too heartbreaking! I wish I had focused more on how he was living his life, to his fullest every day! What he cared about was getting outside, getting his treats and tons of cuddles.

We have no idea how much time we have with our Stewie boy... we just know that right he is here with us, loving every second we can give him! We Won’t let this 💩 disease rule over our lives like it did with Mojo. We owe it to Stewie and Mojo both, to make this a pawsitive, loving environment for as long as pawsible!

All the very best

Yesterday was a lazy day (we hope). It got cold as the day went along so everyone stayed inside and did not do much.

Here is Sebastian yesterday at 5:00am walking the fence. He also went out for a short 7-8 minute walk/run around the block but he didn't much of anything other than that.

It's cold again this morning, so he's been inside and laying down the entire morning. Mojo is doing the same, so I'm hoping it's a case where they are just doing what they seemingly always do when everyone is gone for the day and napping it out.

I'm glad youre posting thede updates (and always great videos), because I think we can be really objective.  I always found that very helpful when I was jn the thick of worrying about every littlle "perceived difference"!   The community would give me a dose of what the reality was.:-)   And usually, as you already noted, and as they popinted out to me, the activity wasn't much different than the behavior before any other issues popped up.

From my perspective, Sebastian does not in any way, shape or form, appear to be in an immediate "decomposition" of life!   As Jackie said, it's cold and everyone just wants to stay inside and laz around if at all possible.

The activity that you described yesterday is ample for a cold day, a three legged dog, and some crappy ole'mets.   He clearly feels fine!  His tail is held high in that video, he's alert, he's engaged! 🙂 🙂 🙂  The cold weather is hard in a tripawd and certainly hard on the kungs (heskthy or not)!   So no worries if he doesn't feel like doing much.  He seems to be adapting very well and has no issue at all with having some lazy days every now and then.  Sebastian is doing what he wants to do.:-)

Snuggles and comfort food on cold days....nothing better! 🙂

I know we've been discussing of when to make that decision... I appreciate all the input I've received so far.

That said... Here's Sebastian today at lunchtime, you can see he also struggles with decisions in the moment as well. He loves his stuffed toys, but he also has a special place for his ball.

Yesterday was another slow day - everybody was gone and it was cold outside, so the dogs were forced to stay indoors until we got home. Sebastian then got a quick walk/jog around the block.

Other than that, he just lounged around all day, waiting for someone to come home. Funny, but I think they can tell time, because they generally migrate to this room around 4:00pm when people start coming home. I'm guessing this could be one of the signs we could use if he didn't have the energy to greet us on the majority of days.

These are the days where I feel confident that he lounged around because he was waiting for us, not because of any pain.

I have to say, there aren't a lot of things that compare to seeing an excited pet(s) greet you at the door.

You are on track, that could certainly be a quality of life marker for him! Good job noticing these 'ordinary' things and making notes.

And I agree, for us doggie parents there's nothing like a face full of dog slobber after a long day away from home!

Oh yes, it makes the end of the day just so much better! My Pepper girlie would get up on her back legs and prance before she knocked me over. I do agree, it could definitely be one of your signs.

I just caught up on the videos of Sebastian playing with his toys and  also excited to see you come home.....SWEEEEET!! 🙂

Actually, I did see a documentary many years ago about dog telling time, "sensi g" their ow ers' arrival ,etc.  If I recall, the test was this:

  •  A camera was placed in the house
  • Without being told ahead of time, the owner was randomly  told to leave the house.
  • At that time, the owner was  given a variety of different locations to drive to.
  • At a certain point, the owner was then told to return home.  I've forgotten the exact distance away, but it was far enough away (several miles away and on a route the owner didn't usually take home) that the dog coukd not possibly hear or smell the scent.
  • The camera showed the dog getting up and going to the window, as he always did, when he knew his owner was coming home.

I may not have everything recounted exactly, but I remember walking away with the study showing the depth of a connection that is beyond what "science" can explain.....vut the heart sure can! 🙂
