Our story started Friday near closing time. A client came in with a hit by car 8 week old puppy. At the time the accident was over a week ago. The sweet girl wasn't using her rear leg and had an obvious infection. After x-rays and news to the client, they decided they couldn't afford surgery to help the puppy. (No hard feelings at all to the owners. I'm not adding that information for any bashing on them). One of the worst parts of the job is euthanasia. This puppy was only 8 weeks old and had her whole life ahead of her. Luckily the owner released her rights and allowed me to foster. The first few days she wouldn't eat anything and stayed in her crate, I don't blame her either. Her break was so severe that it punctured through her skin. After a few days of strong pain meds, antibiotics, and love the little booger is playing and eating everything. Tomorrow will be her last day with 4 legs and the following will be a journey that we will get through together. Hopefully I'll find a great forever home for her that caters to her every need. If not, then I guess she'll just be anot her lifer at my home:)

Lucky puppy to have you! I'm sure the surgery will go well. Looking forward to some photos of the little one. If you post the adoption details here someone might be interested. But she might have captured your heart already and decide to stay with you!

ohhhh puppy! What a lucky dog to find your way into such great care.

So it sounds like your humans work in a vet's office? Cool.

When you're ready to start looking for that forever home, you can put an announcement in our Tripawds Rescue Forum OK? We'll do our best to help you find that magical place.

Thank you all so much for the support! Tomorrow is the big day, her surgery. She's been spoiled rotten today. I can't explain how happy I am that I found this site with so many awesome people. I'll keep everyone posted on our progress and pictures to follow also:)

Hi and welcome.

What are you calling your little girl?  Well, your foster girl...wink wink big-grin

I adopted my second Tripawd when she was 10 months old.  Elly is a little pug mix who was hit by a car and lost her right rear leg when she was 7 months old.  Elly's sounds like a similar story- owner couldn't deal with the surgery costs and turned her over to a rescue.

Elly does just fine on three, in fact I have to slow her down.  She has now been a Tripawd for more than half of her life- she doesn't really know any different.

I hope the surgery goes well, keep us posted.

Thanks so much for the warm welcome. Our little girls name is, Bagheera! I've definitely falling in love with her in just the short week that I've had her.

Our stories are very similar indeed. I'm glad Elly is doing great, that calms my nerves. I love happy ending and it seems our girls got one.

She had surgery today and is doing great so far:) Hopefully she'll be just like your Elly!

Thanks everyone for the positive encouragement. Bagheera had her surgery today and is doing wonderful. She's already standing on her own and trying to run. Keeping her calm and contained will be fun for awhile. I'm just glad that we are over this step and on the recovery.

Hi jlkay,

Rene (Jerry) showed me your post because I too have a Bagheera.  My Bagheera is a little boy cat that my tripawd husky found a couple years ago when it was really cold old.  My husky broke her leg at 2 months old and had it amputated when she was 5 months old.  She had a foster family that assisted with getting her leg taken care of and her on her feet (all 3 of them) and then they posted in the rescue forums here on tripawds, which is where I "met" her and ended up adopting her at 11 months old.  She is now 4 years old and still a crazy funny girl.  Her name is Adeldaide, aka Addy.  I wish your Bagheera a speedy recovery and welcome to the group.

Karma, Adeldaie and the pack and always with our angel Brendol looking over us

Adelaide is a young tripawd Husky, from an injury.  Her amp was on 10/1/12.  She has 4 sisters, Aissa (a senior border collie/chow), Maggie May (a puppy Great Pyrenees), Mathilde and Morrigan and 1 baby brother, Bagheera.  We are all watched over by our angel Brendol, who was dx with OSA 1/30/13, amp on 2/6/13, and left us on 8/20/13.
