Hi guys! Been about a year since I posted anything but wanted to hop on here and give a quick update for those who may remember my Roxy. Yesterday was Roxy's 66 month ampuversay!  Yep, 5.5 years on three legs. We do believe time is running out on our beautiful girl, but she's given it a heckuva run. She's about 11, best guess, and in great health. But her arthritis is getting so bad that it is getting very difficult for her to get around. I have an appointment in a couple weeks to try acupuncture to see if it can help relieve her pain. Otherwise we're just taking it one day at a time. As long as she's enjoying life and freely giving love we're going to do all we can to keep her around.

I think of the tripawds often! I hope all of your babies are enjoying life.

OH MY ROXY!!!! WOOOHOOOO!!!!

What a miracle girl, what an amazing example of how amputation isn't the end of the road, Roxy you are truly INCREDIBLE!!!

Everypawdy who's new, here's the backstory on Roxy, check it out and be inspired!

It's so good to hear from you and know she's doing well for a mature gal. That ol' Arthur Itis will go packin when you start the acupuncture, I'm glad you're checking it out. Let us know how it goes, and remember it takes at least a few sessions before it really shows it's working. Here's a post about a senior dog and arthritis that you might check out:

We're so glad you posted, give her extra love from all of us!

Also, Jerry, I re-read my own post you linked to from last year.  That blanket is still my favorite ever!  Unfortunately my pesky little beagle has chewed on it, so I have requested a new one for Christmas.  I hope the material of the blanket hasn't changed!

Hey guys!  Roxy has done 3 acupuncture treatments so far, Friday will be her 4th.  We have seen a definite improvement in her.  She still has issues, it still takes her a little extra to get around, but we're not giving up.  I'm not sure what my expectations should be honestly.  She's an almost 12 year old (at best guess) boxer who's been on three legs for 5.5 yrs.  I don't think completely pain free is reasonable, maybe?  We're just doing what we can.  She's our girl.

WWWWOOOOHOOOO!!!

I'm so glad to hear acupuncture is working. I think that as long as you see that it is improving her life in some way, that's awesome. At her age and with her health it would be very hard to have one solution to a pain-free life, it usually takes more than 1 (such as acupuncture in combo with another modality like pain medication, massage, etc), but the more regularly you're able to dedicate your time (and money) to helping her get there with whatever you can do, the better off she will be. She is SO lucky to have you!
