Thank you so much for posting them for me!! =) So anyways the reason I am concerned with surgery is because of how his leg is formed and shaped. It was not like that when he got his other amputated , i think its that way because of the stress its put in. Thanks =)

I think the only way to confirm your fears or learn that he is indeed a candidate for surgery is to have him evaluated by a veterinary orthopedic surgeon. Have you can considered taking him back to OSU? Did they explain why the original surgery failed? And have the same doctors seen him for this current condition?

You can help the vets by taking copious notes about his physical activity, when he shows signs of pain, etc. and relaying that to the vet, but really the only way to even know if or how surgery or a brace can help is to have him evaluated at the very least by a veterinary rehabilitation therapist.

It's not a cheap route to go, but here's a list of financial resources that might help. Also, vet teaching hospitals are usually very willing to work with clients on reducing fees so if you're near OSU that's where I would go.

If you go the brace route the company is called Orthopets -- you should be able to google it. Ideally they'd need to get specs from a physical therapist or ortho vet for custom or semi-custom.

Orthopets makes braces for all purposes. They will work directly with your orthopedic/rehab vet. Please contact Orthopets directly for details or watch our video interviews with the founder for more information. Be sure to tell them Tripawds sent you!

Chelsea, any updates? I've been thinking about you and Petie.

I was at PT today and asked our PT vet about Petie's case and she said grade 3 is tough but Orthopets would likely be able to help and showed me some of their LP braces in their catalog. She thinks very highly of their owners and has been out there to visit and tour their facility.

Hopefully you can find a good PT vet in your area who can help.

Good luck, and keep us posted!
