Hi all,

Ugh, I swear I can feel the new gray hairs popping out on my head………..

Kona was improving right away from her remaining rear leg 'tweaking' from a couple weeks ago, then, last week, we noticed that she was having some incontinance issues……then we realized that her tail was just kinda hanging…..needless to say, STRESS. We kept thinking that it would come around you know??? Some shock to her system that would resolve……..well, yesterday we went to our vet and Kona got a check up…..and he looked closely at the xrays from the visit on Oct. 2nd…(by an emergency vet at the same hospital)…anyway,

GOOD NEWS…………….no tumors or fractures………it appears to be mild compression on a disc or a pinched nerve.

We have to have the deramaxx (anti-inflammatory) cleared out of her system before we can start a mild dose of predisone that he (our vet) thinks will resolve the issue and clear up the incontinence, etc……………..just a bump in the road.  Whew…

So, Friday, we can begin the pred…

Until then, we've discovered that taking Kona out and getting her to bark by mentioning the neighbor dogs, or coyotes, etc, we can get her to bark and yes, the pee and poo come forth !!!

Ahhh, our next door neighbors must think we're nuts……………….ok, not a reach !!! hahaa

Here's to good times, my friends :)

       hugs,

Denise

This is just an FYI, mostly so you won't freak if the incontenance doesn't change.  Trouble has incontenance issues when she takes prednisone.  It isn't severe and it isn't daily, but a couple times during the course of the treatment she will leak. With this last round, I gave her the concentrated cranberry gel caps.  It made a huge difference not only in the incontenence, but in the urgency to go outside so frequently.

Excellent news about the x-rays!  Kona is bound to keep you on your toes and lead you to an early totaly grey head!

Thanks for the heads up, Shanna.

Ugh, poor Kona is just aching…..we get to start the prednisone in an hour and a half………….she's been off all pain meds and anti-inflammatories for three days, so that it'll be safe with the prednisone……we're looking forward to resolve of this pinched nerve or disc compression.

I'm going to look for those cranberry gel caps too.

You should begin to see some relief pretty quickly.  Post an update when you can.
