Lycan is an American Staffordshire Terrier that had his left forelimb amputated on May 27th, 2010 due to a gunshot. He has been home since the 29th; he has been resting pretty well and besides some pain and discomfort when rising is having a great recovery. I would like to thank everyone on this site for the useful information and product recommendations that will make his adjustment a lot smoother.

Awe, he looks like my Duke. Duke's dad was AST.

So sorry to hear about the gunshot, but really glad to hear the recovery is going well.  There are lots of great resources here and some of the most wonderful people ever.  Lots of good wishes to Lycan on his recovery.

As I say, welcome to the family, the way you got here sure sucks, but hey,  most of us here aren't thrilled with the way we got here either, but what a great place to be if we have to be somewhere like this. Your first couple weeks may not be the best you ever had, but it will get better, and the fact your not dealing with cancer is even better, so you guys have a great future ahead. Need answers, this is the place, experience gives the best ones. Just take it a day at a time and Lycan will be good as new before you know it. Gus and Dan

Welcome, Lycan!  What a beautiful boy.  We're sorry to hear about his accident, but are glad you found us.  Please keep us posted on Lycan – we're hoping his recovery continues to go smoothly.  Usually the first two weeks can be the roughest… so we'll keep fingers and paws crossed he does really well!

Hugs,

Holly, Zuzu, and Susan

Oh my gosh Lycan, what a handsome pup you are.

What is UP with gunshots these days? We've had a few Tripawds join because of that. We're so sorry you went through that horrible situation but glad you're OK. We can't wait to learn more about you. Thanks for joining us here.

Sooo sorry this happened to you, Lycan. You are one gorgeous boy though. Get lots of rest!

Me THree on those gunshots…what's UP with THAT?!?!?!?!?

Welcome to the community and so sorry you had to come to live here in that fashion, but what has been said is soooo true…at least he won't have to deal with the aftermath with the cancer.

And here comes my suggestion…to help YOU help HIM, invest in one of the Ruffwear harnesses…I swear it is SUCH a lifesaver for getting in and out of vehicles.  Magic lost the same leg as Lycan.

Keep us posted on his recovery….come often and stay late!!

Welcome Lycan!  Wow, a gunshot?  That must have been terrible.  Grrrrrrr!  Don't worry though, things will get better after a couple of weeks and being a left frt. amputee isn't so bad, I am also a left frt. amputee.  We can do anything a 4 legged dog can do and do it better!  Mom even taught me to sit up pretty this week!

Left front amputee here, as well!

What is up with all the gunshot wounds lately?!!  So horrible.

Hope recovery continues to go smoothly.  Looking forward to hearing about Lycan for a long, long time to come!

Thanks for all the support. We went on our first 15 min walk today; he had to stop a few times, but he seemed to be happy and enjoyed it.
