Hello Tripawds!

Just a few days ago I found this community, and I love it! I never imagined to meet so many pets with 3 legs, thanks to this I can read about other cases, tips and see the beautiful stories that you share. It is comforting to know and get information of the subject, learn from all of you.

I want to share the very special story of my pet, Love. All of it started in Monterrey, México, on December 28, 2012, without having planned to adopt a puppy, I began to see the Facebook page of a foundation on which a friend promotes adoptions, just out of curiosity, but the moment I saw the photo of Love, I fell in love with her, I felt something very special for her since the very beginning. I contacted my friend immediately and she thought it was a joke (December 28th is Fool’s Day in México), I told her that my intention of adopting Love was real and she became very excited, because she thought it would be very hard to find a home for her in her condition, but that's exactly why I fell for her, she need to receive the love and care she deserved, which was not given before, as my friend found her in the garbage looking for food, dirty and scared.

My friend gladly gave her to me in adoption, knowing that I love and protect all animals. I picked her up that same day in the afternoon and immediately after holding her in my arms we created a very special bond, I knew I would be her mom forever and I would give her all the love possible. I noticed that a part of her front left leg was amputated, she has 1/3 of her leg left. According to the veterinarian, she had an accident or someone intentionally injured her leg, as the cut has irregular and if it had being a professional surgery they would have amputated the whole leg. She feels she still has her leg and moves the piece as if she really could support it, that helps her to balance a little. In the car she was very quiet and alert. Upon arriving home she explored and adapted quickly, she met Lola, one of her sisters and although initially Lola had a hard time accepting her, she learned to love her and share with her.

Days passed and my love for her grew. She slept a lot, surely because after weeks of no peaceful sleeping she finally found a safe place, she was adjusting to her new life. The surprise comes here ... on January 10, 2013 after work, we came home and found that Love have had 3 babies, no one knew she was pregnant, neither my friend nor the veterinarian who checked her when I first adopted her, she didn’t show and nobody noticed. In her bed there were 3 beautiful puppies, from which one died, one is living happily with a friend and another is part of my family, Golfo.

Golfo has grown a lot, he is now 2 years old and Love is around 4 years. She is been doing great this 2 years, she has always been very agile, she walks, runs, plays and is a very happy and enthusiastic dog, she gets exited about everything and loves meeting new people in the parks and on the beach, lie on the grass to see the scenery and also play with Golfo and Lola, she loves prizes and loves taking her pill Dasuquin.

We are considering getting her a wheel support, to help her in her walks and prevent damage in her right front leg.

We don’t know what she went through before living with us, surely nothing good, but what I am sure is that she no longer remembers what she suffered before and now she is loved and cared for. This is Love, the beautiful furry pup who changed my life with all her love, joy and enthusiasm.

I leave you my blog where I will be posting videos and photos of some adventures of Love and her siblings. http://love.tripawds.com/

Thanks for reading!

Judith & Love.
