I am so relieved to hear from someone who chose to keep the leg with this injury!! It's really encouraging to hear a success story. How long was it before your dog stopped showing improvement with function? The vet told me that the window for improvement was about 6 months, and we're approaching that. Jewels has started to try and walk on the leg within the past week though. Every now and then she'll take a step or two with weight on the leg, but she still can't properly place the foot.
