Poor little fella, he can't help it if he isn't quite himself right now.  But I can certainly see where you would leave him to his own devicesSurprised

Hang in there, he'll do better.

That pool is awesome!

So sorry that you're getting the full spectrum of surgery side effects, but we're going to be that he's going to be feeling much much better when the meds get out of his system. They really tend to make Tripawds go a little batty.

Don't forget; you can give him a bit of metamucil to help with the poo issue.

Hang in there, things will get better soon. Keep us posted.

He's a pooping regular since about 8 p.m. last nite!  WooHoo!  He's not eating real good again and I'm having to muzzle him to do his therapy because of the pain it's causing him.  Can't blame the poor guy though.  Heat, therapy, ice, treats.  Giving him boiled burger and rice to get him to eat right now, the kibble is just being left behind, so why waste it.  I'll start adding metamucil to the burger and rice to keep him going.  Winker

He's doing everything on his own now though, except the therapy of course!  Laugh

Oh that is great news! Did you ever think you'd be so excited to see a dog turd? Blush We all understand what that's like!

Yeah, if he's being picky, just feed him what he wants right now, the important thing is to boost his immune system and help him get strong. Keep us posted!

Well, he got his stitches out today.  The vet said that home therapy will be good, but still suggested that we take him to a pro as he doesn't have the extension in the leg that he should have.  So, I guess we'll eat pb&j for a few weeks.Laugh  I took him for his first session today!  His PT (Jeff) knows all about this website.  Not sure if he's a member or not.  Anyway, he told me that Chuy has been shall I say "faking it?"  He won't put his leg down, but can.  Jeff says it's because Chuy is afraid too.  He gained his trust, got him in the pool and WALAA!  Chuy swam and the leg went down and he bore a little bit of weight on it!  This guy is GOOD!!  We will still do some swimming at home in between sessions, but Chuy is going back until he doesn't need to.  He really needs to build that muscle and I really need the professional help here.  Jeff also suggested a rear harness to help me lift Chuy's butt instead of that sling, so Bluedog sold me the back half of theirs to hook up to the Ruff wear harness.  They were really nice about it and it will be here on Friday.  Smiley  Life is going to get easier, just a matter of time.  Pictures of the pool therapy to follow soon!

Chuy had a friend stop by today just in time to take a few pictures of him swimming in the tank with his float coat on!  WaHoo!  Hard to tell if he's smiling or trying to eat the water.  He did really well for the first session of the day.  We have one more session later today, after daddy gets home from work.  Doesn't seem to mind putting on the float coat, but has a hard time walking in it right now.  I'm sure once he starts using his leg more the walking will get easier for him.swim chuyswim Chuy swim!
