Jerry, I was thinking that or maybe a bottle of something stronger-lol. I'm assuming the restlessness is from the Palladia. It lasts about the two hours that it's breaking down and digesting. It reminds me of someone going through a bad drug "trip". He's hot and panting, then chill, then can't find a comfortable spot. I have been just sitting with him letting him move to make get comfortable and petting and talking him through it. He doesn't appear to be in distress so I'm holding it together in that sense. Still a shock to the nerves.

He is prescribed metacloprimide and Prilosec.

Thanks for the Cerenia suggestion I'm gonna look it up!

Hi Rich,

I remember reading that high blood pressure could be a side effect of palladia- be sure you let the vet know what is going on with Jack.

Glad you got the week off to spend with your boy and that overall he is doing well.

Is Jack on Tramadol? That can also cause all sorts of odd behaviors. Our Ellie acted like she was seeing bugs crawl on the walls. She was also hyper-aware (noises, lights). Tramadol can also cause them to pant heavily.

We used Cerenia (anti-nausea) and thought it worked really well. Ellie's nausea always appeared as heavy drooling and turning her head away if offered food.

Active 10+ Pyr mix suddenly came up lame with ACL tear in left rear leg. Scheduled for a TPLO but final pre-op x-rays indicated a small suspicious area, possibly OSA, which could have caused the ACL tear. Surgeon opened the knee for TPLO but found soft bone. Biopsy came back positive for OSA. Became a Tripawd 9/18/14. Carbo6 with Cerenia and Fluids. Pain free and living in the moment. Crossed the Bridge on 7/12/15 after probable spread of cancer to her cervical spine. A whole lifetime of memories squeezed into 10 months. Here's her story: Eloise

You've gotten good suggestions from everyone. Just wanted to ask if he's still on some pain meds. Could be he may need a bit of pain med adjustments .

Yes, do let the vet know though, as it sounds like the symptoms could be related ro the Palladia.

Jacks quite the Warrior! He's had a lpt thrown his way this past week...as have you! It's still very early in recovery. It does continue to get better! We're all cheering for you!!
Hugs!

Good Morning Everyone.

It's with a broken heart that I am writing this update. Jack was losing his battle and I had to set him free yesterday. He hung strong to the very end and thankfully his decline was swift. He was so strong that at times I forgot how much of a hard road we were on. We did get a month together and it seemed like a lifetime since the first diagnosis. In that month we played, got clearance to go to the dog park, and he rode shot gun for lots of miles to his favorite places. He got to see some of his human buddys that pet, love him and give him treats. He was the best friend anyone could ask for and I'm thankful for the seven years of unconditional love that he gave. He will live forever in my heart. I love you my sweet, sweet Jack!

ps. My apologies for not staying current with the updates. Thank you all for your compassion and support.

Oh, Rich, a hundred hugs for you.  Jack was a beautiful, sweet guy and he'll be missed so much.  I'm glad you two had time to really celebrate together before he had to go.  Years ago I was in the same boat with my little min-pin, and I'm so grateful for all of our time but especially those last few great memories we made together.  They'll stay with you and keep Jack safe and strong in your heart.

Cerenia is great stuff, but our oncologist also put Otis on Pepcid AC - yes, the human med.   It is really helping with what appears to be stomach upset and acid.  We just did our last IV chemo (carboplatin) and are to continue the Pepcid for 3 weeks.

Otis - 106 pound lab/Dane mix, lost his right front leg to osteosarcoma on Febuary 9, 2016.  Four rounds of carboplatin completed in April, 2016.  Lung mets August 25, 2016.  Said goodbye too soon on September 4, 2016.   Lost his adopted sister, Tess, suddenly on October 9, 2016. likely due to hemangiosarcoma.

Wherever they are, they are together.

Yeah, I'm speechless right now and too stunned to try and find the words. Actually, there are no words. I cry with you. My heart breaks with yours. We all fell head over heels in love with Jack and his spunky attitude.

I'll come back. I.just wanted to spend you as much love as possible right now.

I am so sorry - I have a really bad habit of not always realizing that there is another page.  So sorry to hear about Jack, but it sounds like you had a great month together.  And you shared a lifetime of love, even if it wasn't long enough.

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

Ohhhhhh I'm so sorry, this was so unexpected, I'm really sorry. We always hope with all we've got that every member gets a long, long time after surgery. This hits everyone hard. Our deepest condolences go out to you.

You DID give Jack an awesome life right up until the end what a very lucky dog. I know the heartbreak is raw and it hurts like hell right now, but I can tell your head is in a good place for coping. Jack taught you well. Please lean on us if you need to, we'd love to celebrate your amazing dog's life with you.

Thank you all for the love and support. I was thinking about you all as we went about our daily fight. Thank you very much.

I'm having issues uploading some pictures and videos of our happiest moments. I'm using my iPad and not sure if that's why I'm having trouble. I'm dying to show you how wonderful Jack was.

I am so glad you were able to have a last month together. No matter how much time any of us gets, it is never ever enough. The most loving thing we can do in the end is to set them free, even when it is the hardest thing.

We all grieve with you,

Denise, Bill and Angel Ellie.

I'm so sorry Rich.  Nothing about cancer is fair and sometimes it is more unfair than others.

You gave your boy a chance and you built more memories, nothing better than that.  Jack with live on forever in your heart, he will always be by your side.

As far as pictures- you can't load them from a mobile device.  You can email them to me, or Jerry and we would be happy to post them for you.  I sent you a PM.
