Hello. I am rescue volunteer in Ohio. On July 3rd I picked up a stray who had been shot in his right hind leg. I work for a vet, and after X-rays we discovered Toby's femur had been shattered into 8 pieces by a bullet months previous. He is now doing perfectly well on 3 sound legs. He has spent a month at the vet getting used to being around people. He had been a stray for a very long time, so getting to trust people has been a big thing for him. He is now staying in my home while he awaits his forever family to find him. Toby's info:

2-3 yr old Beagle/Hound mix

He is HW negative

Neutered

Good with other dogs and doesn't mind cats.

Ok with kids, but must be over age 10 so they can undersatnd not to spook him while he is adjusting to new people.

He has never growled or bitten at anyone.

His only special need:

If Toby's right ear itches, you have to scratch it for him.

Toby is not destructive with toys or blankets.

He learning housebreaking and is pretty good about crating.

If you are in Ohio, or close, and know someone who would have a good loving home for him, please call or email me.

His adoption fee would be enrolling in obedience classes with him. Also, the family must have excellent vet references and be willing to answer an adoption questionnaire about their family, willing to allow me to do a home visit prior to adoption, and also to stay in contact with me after adoption.  If anyone has any other ideas of rescue groups or foster homes in my area, please let me know.

My dad and his fiance live in Bay Village Ohio - on the west side of Cleveland...are you near there? He LOVES dogs, lost his Golden Retriever, Chester of 15 years in March and really misses having a dog in the house. I will chat with him about Toby...what a sweet boy he looks like!

my email address is hkourcklas@comcast.net if you want to chat "off line". I will do everything I can to help out.

Have you tried contacting a local news station. I think that would get Toby plenty of potential forever homes for you to chose from for him! All the stories like this I see on the news of abused animals always attract plenty of good people.

or... you can let him come to Florida to live with me!
