Some people may not understand why we are doing this for Eva. Why spend all this money (money that we don't even have) to save a dog that will die in a few years? The answer is simple. Eva would do it for us. Eva would give her life for us.Yes she's 8 1/2 and rottweilers don't live forever. But if this gets us just one more year with a happy healthy Eva... Then its a done deal.

Despite her pain, Eva still plays, she still does the "wiggle butt" dance and she will still follow us to whichever room in the house we may be in just to be near us. If we are in separate rooms she plays "sweden" and will lay half way in between Luigi and I.

Eva is a rare dog that actually loves going to the vet. She gets so excited to see the doctors even though she knows she's just going to get poked and prodded some more. She likes to visit with any other patients that might be in the lobby at the same time. Eva loves everyone, anyone that can give her a belly rub she is all about. Eva is also a master manipulator. She knows how to get her way and she happens to have Luigi wrapped around her paw.

Eva was diagnosed with Localized Histiocytic Sarcoma in her shoulder and because of that we have come to the decision to ultimately amputate her front left leg. Then continue the treatment with 6 sessions of chemotherapy. Chemo does not affect dogs like it does humans. There is no hair loss, and its extremely rare for dogs to have vomiting or diarrhea. They tend to be back to normal the next day after their treatment. The doctors at U.C. Davis believe she will live a happy healthy life after the treatment. Eva will be a 3 legged rottweiler but she'll probably just use that to her advantage to get more treats and love.

Thank you everyone for your support. Thank you for your thoughts, prayers, likes, shares and donations. I don't know how we could get through this without you.

Hello Christine and Eva, welcome to Tripawds, the club that nopawdy wants to join! We're sorry to hear about Eva's diagnosis but it really does sound like you guys have a great attitude and will do great with chemo and everything.

We've had many Tripawds go through the same histio battle, just search for "Histiocytic Sarcoma" in the forums and blogs and you'll find lots of inspawration. Once member, Barney, is over 5 years out from his diagnosis and still doing great!

Sounds like you have things under control but if you need anything at all, don't hesitate to ask. Have you seen Jerry's Required Reading List or the Tripawds e-books yet? They'll answer a lot of your questions as will this fantastic community. So stay tuned, and good luck with everything. Keep us posted!

The first line of your post says it all- you are doing the amp FOR Eva. You won't get any arguments here, we have all been there and understand.

When is Eva's surgery? Be sure and keep us posted.

Also, we have a fairly active Nor Cal Crew that gets together in Mill Vally a few times a year. Keep an eye on the Tripawd Party forum if you are interested in meeting some other Tripawds, Spirit Tripawds, and their people.

Sorry everyone for the late late update! Eva just had her 2 month ampuversary and she is doing amazing. She is exceeding her doctors expectations. Eva is running, playing, jumping and basically just thrilled that she is pain free. I don't regret the decision at all! She just had her 3rd round of chemo and has 3 more to go but doesn't have any side effects except she takes a longer afternoon nap on her treatment days.

Eva LOVES going to the vet. She gets so excited as soon as we pull into the parking lot its hard to control her! She escaped my grasp as I was filling out paperwork and almost tackled a nurse in excitement. Thankfully the nurse remembered Eva as well as Eva remembered her!

Eva is off all pain and anti-inflammatory drugs and only takes a liver protectant while she is going through chemo. The bills are piling up, the hospital has started charging us interest on our balance but we are still allowed to make payments as long as Eva is going through chemo. We were fortunate enough to raise over $2,000 for her medical expenses on gofundme.com but those funds have been long spent. We are staying optimistic and paying what we can when we can.

I am SO thankful for Eva everyday. Her pure joy and enthusiasm for life really has taught me to cherish every moment of every day. She also has brought so many wonderful people into my life. Through her journey we have met so many in the online community. Their kind words and encouragement has really helped us through this stressful time. We started a facebook page and instagram account for Eva and have many followers that lift our spirits daily with their comments.

Im hoping to start a local tripawds group in my area so I can get together with some parents of tripawds and organize a tripawd play date. Four legged dogs of course are welcome! Overall, we are very grateful, this could have been a horrible experience but we have been blessed with an amazing support system and most importantly an amazing dog that never lets me forget how luck we are.

Wow what an amazing story and Eva is such an inspiration!!  I'm so happy for Eva and her human pack that she's doing so well.  She sounds like she has a strong will to live and isn't ready to leave this earth anytime soon.

And for Eva's family to be so upbeat and thankful even though the medical bills keep coming is really touching.  Eva has an awesome family supporting her through this journey and she is so blessed to have you by her side!!

Keep moving forward Eva...you are one AWESOME Rottie!! clap
