Just an update . . . she still has the lump on her belly, but we go to K-State Monday so we'll find out exactly what it is.  When I called they thought it would be unlikely that another cancerous lump just suddenly popped up.  Hopefully . . .

Yesterday she re-learned or figured out how to roll to her back and wiggle around in the grass.  She also figured out how to hold her bone again.  We usually put peanut butter, carrots, and pieces of milkbones inside it and last night was the first time since her surgery that she expressed an interest in it again.  I know everyone said that they can do everything as before, but it's nice to see it ourselves.  smileyImage Enlarger

Leah's recheck at K-State went very well.  Turns out the mystery lump on her belly is a lipoma, so nothing to worry about. They found another swollen lymph node and did another biopsy - near her incision.  They called today and it, too, was normal and just reacting to her surgery and healing.

They gave her the first round of chemo, lomustine, and finally sent us home.  No reaction so far - we'll see what the first CBC shows in one week.  We'll be doing all of the blood work with our local vet and would just need to go to K-State so they can give her the pills.  Seems silly to drive 5 hours round trip . . . so we're going to see if our local vet will give it to her or maybe another clinic that's an hour closer to us.  We've missed a lot of work already . . .

We were told to 'let her be a dog' again - so the couch is again fair game.  She's also back to exploring outside so much that tonight I had to go way out in the trees to even find her!

Great news! All test results looking good!! Glad she's feeling well enough to go explpre and BE A DOG again! I loke that phrase!clap

Hopefully she won't have anynside effects from her treatment and she can keep on sailing through her recovery!!

Get some well deserved rest...even if it means you're sleeping on the floor while she's sleeping on the sofa!!

Hugs to all!

Yay for lipomas!

Glad the trip and your adventure went well, and no side effects too! Can't ask for more, that's pawesome.

As long as you have a vet who is willing to consult with the University it should be fine to do that locally. Just make sure they have experience with chemo and an existing relationship with K-State, just in case.
