Sunday October 16th 2011 was a big day for Darcy and for us.   It was 4 years since Darcy was diagnosed with osteo in her front right leg (and she had her amputation on the same day).

We were devastated when Darcy broke her leg and had it amputated and then all over again when the biopsy results confirmed our worst fears but then we got to 12 months post amp.  And then we got to 24 months post amp.  And miraculously we got to 36 months posts amp.  And this weekend we celebrated 48 months post amp.  This milestone is even more miraculous (if such a thing is possible) because in August of 2010, Darcy was diagnosed with severe Dilated Cardiomyopathy.  It was so severe that she was not expected to leave the hospital.  But as you may be realising, Darcy doesn't read the veterinary text books and she doesn't take much notice of statistics either!

 

Now and again, you get a little bit of a miracle.  Darcy is ours – and I hope she raises a smile and gives others a little bit of hope too xxx

darcy, congrats on four year – FOUR YEARS!!!!  geesh, you are such an achiever!!  looks like you had a wonderful party, we'll celebrate for you here in ET with extra cheese.  thanks for sharing your accomplishment and for helping us all hope for a little miracle in our lives as well.

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Well, if that isn't the best news on this site for the year! Congrats on 4 years, that is simply pawsome. And lots of pups to help in the celebration too! Looks like quite a pawty.

Skyler earned her wings and regained her right rear limb on 6/11/2010. Chloe earned her wings and joined her sister Skyler on 4/4/2011.They are now "Happy Together" with all the other Tripawd heroes and other furbabies that are running free at Rainbow Bridge.

This is great news!  We are just getting started in this process.  Do you have any advice? smile

Levi was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma 7-7-11 Ampuversary 10-14-11 Lung Mets Discovered 1-4-12. Chemo seemed to not be working so we switched to Artemisinin and other supplements. So far so good...

I have used Darcy's story many times when talking to other people with sighthounds to let them know that these dogs can do well even with cancer.  Thanks for the update!

She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.

Elizabeth and Sammy

Diagnosed with osteosarcoma in the right front leg 8/23/10, leg fractured 8/27/10, leg amputated 8/30/10 http://sammyand.....pawds.com/   I couldn't begin to say how special Sammy is to us.  Living and laughing with and loving this wonderful boy is priceless.
