March has been brutal around here.  So many tears.  So many roller coasters.  Because of all the bad news and scary events here, I was terrified to go on a 10 day vacation to the Bahamas.  I felt that how could we make it?  I mean, of the precious Winter Warriors, it's down to Jackson and Jill.  They're still here and probably because we've got some very VERY special angels watching over them.

Celebrating Jackson's 15 month ampuversary today IS marvelous!!!!  (He did have an onco appointment, so that's a crappy way for HIM, but alas it happened and he got rubs, kisses, and "whoot whoots!")  But, it also comes with sadness.  Thinking of all who are across The Bridge and have left since Jackson's amputation is heartbreaking.  How I hate this cancer.

Yes, he's doing great!  We selected to NOT have xrays done.  At this point, it's been a year since his last xrays.  I figure something most be there.  I mean, with how this cancer moves and what it does, something must be brewing.  No, no signs of anything.  His onco is SUPER excited and happy with how he's doing.  She's fine with keeping him on metronomic therapy another 6 months....if we're lucky.  I just can't get cocky or too complacent with his diagnosis.  As hard as it is to visit these forums and cry, it has become important to my psyche and coping with Jackson's cancer.  I need to remain tied to all possibilities.  These possibilities remind me to never take a day for granted and to give Jackson the best day possible, followed by a bedtime hug, kiss, and a wish for "good puppy dreams."  Every day he's here is grand!  We love him tremendously and strive to make his days as good as possible!

In the meantime: PLAY ON!  Jackson is living life large, with zest, and zoomies!

ACL tear in right hind leg 12/5/12 and scheduled ACL repair surgery 12/21/12. Pre-op xrays revealed osteosarcoma. Amputation 12/28/12.  Chemo (carboplatin) started Jan 10, 2013 and ended on April 5, for a total of 5 doses. He handled carbo like a champ!  No side effects.  We started metronomic therapy at his third chemo and have been also doing some holistic treatments.  He's a lively, playful 10 year old huskie-boarder collie and a very proud member of the Winter Warriors!  Our love. Our funny little guy!

My heart just flip flopped and melted all over the floor like butter!

Katy & Jackson, I can't even begin to shout it out to the Universe how amazing and inspawrational you are, how grateful we are that you've been sharing your journey with us every hop of the way. We understand that oftentimes it's not easy to celebrate the victories when so many are grieving,  but you manage to do it with so much compassion and love, it really shines through. Jackson and you are quite a team and by continuing to provide hope, you are truly making the world a better place for everyone who is fighting this disease. Thank you so much for that.

And now, time to PAWTY! What a way to kick off the weekend!!! xoxo

Yay!!  I'm so happy for this news!  Hoppy Ampuversary, Jackson, you handsome boy!  We are very proud of you.  If  I had it to do again I wouldn't have done xrays either.  You will know when and if the time comes.  For now, every day is such a gift and I know you don't take it for granted.

Sammie is celebrating by gnawing on a big meat bone in Jackson's honor. :)

Love and hugs,

Amy & Spirit Libby

Liberty (Libby) was diagnosed with OSA on 1-22-13.  Right front amputation on 1-31-13. No IV Chemo. Metronomic Therapy started 2-19-13 along with supplements and some home cooking. Lungs clear until 1-06-14.  She's still her happy, hoppy, bossy self.  Living the dog life to the fullest and a proud Winter Warrior. :) RIP my Libby 4-21-03 to 3-19-14

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

Thank you all so much!  It's been an oddly emotional day for me.  As I write now, I'm crying again.  My stomach has been upset and I'm just not perky.  Jackson IS though!  SMILE.  I miss all those who have passed before this day.  We're so lucky to have Jwad with us, but really, I cannot celebrate today without remembering all those who look down on us now.

HUGS to all those who remain, who are fighting, and who are just starting this journey.

March on, we will!

Katy,

Happy 15 Jackson. It really is important to share these stories because honestly if we thought no dog or cat made it past 4 months I think we would all jump off a bridge. You really are an inspiration and give hope to all the newcomers, and they really need it because as we all know it's not an easy road to travel. Hugs and bones.

I'm realy glad yo didn't do those stupid xrays!! JACKSON HAS NO SYMPTONS and is clearly feelng great!!And really, that says more avout his condition than any test! REALLY!! Something "probably there"? Bull***t!!!!!! OMD!! I have become such a potty mouth since I joined!! YAAAY for potty mouth!! NOTHING is "wrong" with Jackson! I feel that soooooo strongly!

Jackson has been an"exceptin" from the time he had such an amazingly quick recovery to now and beyond!! "Someone is always the "exception" and Jacksn owns that title and wears it very well!!way-coolway-cool

To do as well as he does on three legs AND to be a "mature" dog......bow down in awe!clap
