Will be thinking about you and Zato.  Otis fractured his leg - that is how we found out about the osteo - it was pretty horrible.  He only lived almost 7 months after his amp (we did four rounds of carboplatin), but I do not regret it for an instant.  It was really good quality time and he did great on 3.

Otis - 106 pound lab/Dane mix, lost his right front leg to osteosarcoma on Febuary 9, 2016.  Four rounds of carboplatin completed in April, 2016.  Lung mets August 25, 2016.  Said goodbye too soon on September 4, 2016.   Lost his adopted sister, Tess, suddenly on October 9, 2016. likely due to hemangiosarcoma.

Wherever they are, they are together.

Small world! My Happy Hannah's surgery was done by the branch of that clinic on Broad Street. At the time and in that location there were two Orthopedic Surgeons, Dr Barnes and Dr Atkay. Not sure who is at the Midlothian branch.

For whatever it's worth, I was so scared I actually cancelled Happy Hannah's first surgery appointment! I did not have the benefit of this great community at the time and I was in a complete state of panic!!

I live in Powhatan, which is about 45 minutes from the Midlothian branch Are you planning to drop Zato off and go home, or stay at the Clinic until surgery, then go home? I'm sure they'll keep Zato for one night

And when you do go to pick Zato up, don't even bother paying attention to his surgery incision! He just wants to see your smiling face and hear you say "Let's go home!"

If I can be of support in ANY way, do NOT HESITATE to reach out, okay??

Lots of hugs!

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

Zato was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in October 2016. He triumphed through radiation and amputation with dignity and grace. After living a life of love and happiness, Zato earned his angel wings on February 19, 2018.  Read his story here.

He had his consultation on Broad Street. Dr. Hamilton is doing the surgery and he happens to be in Midlothian the first available surgery date.  I know we are racing against the fracture so I said sure!  I really want to stay until he gets out but we'll see. I actually wanted to spend the night in town but Richard is out of town for work and we have other dogs, so I will drive home and then come back on Tuesday.  I know he should be ok but I will worry about him and feel so far away :(. I will try not to look when I get there!  We have another dog who just had some mast cell tumors removed from her chest and there were long incisions that shocked me, so I guess it's like that minus a leg.  I will try not to cry!  Thank you :).
