My beautiful girl Abby (some met her at the July Tripawd party in MV) is about a week away from her 11 month ampuversary. A couple of weeks ago she started to sit down a lot during her walks and then had upset stomach for about a week (diarrhea). She also had been slipping when we walked. I didn't feel anything on her limbs. Now her stomach is better – but it appears that tumors have developed on her rear legs. Her front leg tumor was some sort of "aggressive and primitive" soft tissue sarcoma that felt the same as these. My question is…. has anyone experienced this? It's so sad beacuse she is still happy & freindly, but clearly will become more & more uncomfortable if these tumors take the same path.

OfflineI vote with Diane, don't panic until you know for sure what it is. I know that is difficult, after all there has already been a cancer. Trouble had a tumor removed close to her incision site several weeks ago that they were expecting to be a lymphoma. When they opened up the area they found a sizable lipoma, but no involvement of the lymph nodes, totally benign. Trouble was also having some fatigue and random pain. The lipoma was removed, her energy began to return, and she is doing well.
Make an appointment and get Abbey checked out. Even if it isn't wonderful news, you can make decisions based on fact.

OfflineI'm sorry Jody. Yes, do take her to the vets, at least you'll know what you're dealing with, which is comforting in its own way. Meanwhle if she doesn't have a harness you can try the old canvas grocery bag with the sides cut open to help her get around more easily.
Give your cancer superhero our love, she is awesome.
Hugs coming your way…..

Hey Jody,
well unfortunatly I had such experiance with my Don – even though he didnt have soft tissue sarcoma but bone sarcoma (osteosarcom),in his front leg. We chose not to put him through chemo cos in my country its not very good developed what is a shame cos its very developed in all kinds of orhto operations – limb sparing, aritifical joints etc… and he did very well after amputation but not a month after suddenly couldnt stand ok on his rear leg – we took an xray, hoping its maybe only something wrong with ligament but it showed that whole joint was "eaten up" – they called it osteolisis, but with such primal diagnosis it was certain that its actually a metastasis. We took a biochemical blood test and it showed a very high calcium which just proved that there is a desintegration of bone somewhere.
Our vet tried to help him with some kind of improvised ortho brace to keep that leg more compact and it did work for some time, even though he wasnt able to get up without help at all. He lived only 4 months after a diagnosis, but actually cause of his death in the end was kidney failure. Have decided to end his suffering when he was diagnosed with that on top of everything.
But dont lose hope,I really hope you get a good xray result and that its treatable so your girl can have many many more happy months :))
Fingers crossed :)))

XRAY update – good news bad news says the vet…. The good news- no signs of cancer/tumors etc… Also not hip dysplasia (one early guess at exam from how she was presenting). Bad news, it has something to do w/her knee ligament – will be a watch & see. HOPEFULLY will not require surgery. Needless to say, I let out a big sigh of relief. Thank you everyone for crossing fingers & paws!

OfflineHey Jody,
That is good news!!
Check out Chuy's story- he had FHO surgery after becoming a Tripawd. Here are a few posts you can look through.
Hopefully she will not need surgery- she sure looked good at the Nor Cal Tripawd meet up last month.
