Hi Simmy,

Feel free to send the photos to me here, I'm happy to post for you. Hope she's feeling better and more clear-eyed today!

What kind of mail is this?   I have to set up an account to use it?

She's doing really good tonight.   She ate all her dinner, has been drinking water, went potty outside, but mostly sleeping a lot.    She licks our face and has not really wimpered at all.   I'm hoping she is pain free with all her drugs.     I wish I could fast forward a few weeks when this initial recovery period will all be behind us.

She does well hopping around, but sometimes she stumbles, like goes down to the ground in the front.   I'm sure she'll get used to that part too.    There's like a pound+ of weight gone  up front.

Good to hear that things are going well for your girlie.  Carpet runners with the rubber back, when you have laminate floors are a must!!  We have them all over the place on our floors.  We don't want our tripawds to slip and hurt themselves.

My Franklin did really really good after the amputation too.  It was hard to keep him confined to a room, but we did for the first 5-6 days.  Only out to go potty and eat.. and no large walks!  the vet told me that there were many veins, etc. cut and sutured so we didn't want him to overdo it and chance anything breaking apart and internal bleeding.  So we chilled with him.. alot of snuggling time on the couch and dog bed.

then we let him have the run of the tv room and the dining room.I didn't experience any of the phantom pain or crying in pain like some doggers have had here.  He was on Metacam and his dosage was once a day up to the 22kg mark.  That's what it sayson the box but I can't find the little cup that came with it to tell me how many mls that would have been.   lol

When you figure out pictures.. we would love to see them!!

Christine... with Franklin waggin' in her heart♥

Franklin, he was the Happiest Dog on Three Legs! Diagnosed 09/26/2012 with Osteosarcoma, amputated 12/4/2012.  Had a wonderful 5 1/2 months painfree until he ran for the Bridge on 5/15/2013.  Always in my heart, and always a guardian angel of my pack...   You can follow his Tripawd Adventures, before and after, in my blog, Frank'n'Farter!

We are now 8 days post amp and Phoebe is doing so well.   I am actually surprised at how well she is doing this soon.   Really, besides the way she looks, she acts exactly the same.  She has no trouble getting around on 3 legs.  She squats to potty, sits down, lays down, gets back up, walks, goes out her doggy door, etc. without any trouble.  Doctor says we will start weaning her off some of her meds.    I have already stopped the Tramadol and she is happy as can be, does not appear to be in pain.   She still takes her Gabapentin and Deramaxx ... and of course her Clavamox.   Also giving her Synovi G4 supplements to help her joints.

I started a blog for Phoebe so I could share photos.  Here is the address:   http://tripawdp.....gspot.com/

I need to work on it, it's pretty plain right now.

We go in next Friday for our follow-up appointment and for staple removal.   Got her biopsy results back and it was definitely squamous cell carcinoma.  Prognosis is considered very favorable.  No further treatment necessary.   The mass was totally excised and had not metastasized to the axillary lymph node.   Lymph node was removed as well.

Simmy and phoebe,

what a scary journey! I am quite recently a tripawds mommy. My spunky little kitten got herself severely injured when her leg got trapped in a box spring.....the chances of saving her limb weren't good and the recovery time for tryin was twice that of amputation. The catch phrase of this site sums up perfectly the reason we opted to go the route of amputation... "It's better to hop on three legs than to limp on four".

i think the hardest part was seeing her with a ridiculous hair cut, the cone and getting used to the hopping or the sight of her with three legs. She's a week and a half from surgery and is getting around much better. It's her first full day without pain meds and she seems to be doing good. She is still a big lover ad refuses to let this get her down. She already is trying to sneak out of the bathroom and I see her toys making their way around to, which is a good sign that she is trying to figure out how to play with three legs.

My stepmom had an older dog that was a tripawd when I first met her.... Sally got around like that fourth leg was only slowing her down...  She was way faster than me on the stairs too!

best of luck and quick healing to the both of you!

Woot! Things are going along just GREAT, congratulations!

She really looks great too. Who says mature doggies can't do well on three legs? Not Phoebe, that's for sure!

I just realized that when I put in the link, the whole address doesn't show up and it looks like gspot ROFL.  Really, that address is not a porn site haha.    The address is:   http://tripawdp.....ogspot.com

What a great update!  She is doing well and no further treatment needed- that's about as good as it gets.

As for the link to your blog being shortened- that always happens- at least the second time it says 'ogspot' big-grin.

You might consider adding a signature to your posts and putting a link to your blog there.  You can also use the link tools to put the link in your text.  See my signature below.  If you need help figuring out how to do it Jerry or Admin guy can help.

I can try and walk you though it too.
