Just got off the phone with the vet and the pathology on Jasper's amputated leg came back indicating a nerve sheath tumor. cry She is waiting to get the other results back on the margins?? I guess that test will indicate whether or not they got all of the tumor by removing his leg. Not the diagnosis I was hoping for. Has anyone had any experience with this type of tumor/cancer? They amputated his entire leg shoulder and all. She said she removed every thing she could short of going into his chest and spine. She never actually saw any tumor during the surgery. She said the nerve damage was extensive..more like you would see in a trama but that it did not look cancerous. I guess pathology doesn't lie though.

Anyway Jasper has an appointment this Wed. to have his staples removed and she is hoping to the remaining test results in by then so we can go over everything at the appointment.

Ugh!!!

we dealt with a soft tissue sarcoma in the right front 'wrist'.  gayle too lost the entire leg, including shoulder blade.. makes for a sleek look, and was the 'best way' we were told as there is no joint there.  our tumor was grade three, we did five rounds of chemo in mid 2010.   good luck with the staple removal!!

charon & gayle

Life is good, so very, very good!!! Gayle enjoyed each and every moment of each and every wonderful day (naps included).  She left this world December 12, 2011 – off on a new adventure.

Welcome Jasper and Co.

I'm so sorry to hear about Jasper. I know it's a scary diagnosis but it's going to be okay.

You'll probably have some scary moments during this recovery so feel free to ask questions or post your concerns.  We are here for you!
