Coming home tonight, I was reminded that we are under the wolf moon right now.  And I thought to myself, lord bless the care givers tonight (hospitals, nursing homes, etc.).  Once I got home, the big girls and I went outside for the potty walk, and both were bouncing around and just plum full of it.  And I thought to myself, yep, they are all excited due to that moon.  Well, the night was just beginning.

My girls (Adelaide and Aissa) got into a tiff over dinner tonight.  And we haven't had a tiff for quite some time.  Adelaide, the tripawd, has a habit of using her one front leg to puch, grab, etc. and she must have used that paw to push at Aissa in the fight and Aissa caught her foot.  Because there was a small squeal, an escalation in the fight to which momma kicked their butts to separate corners.  And then I did a pat down on Aissa to check for damage, for which there was none.  I went over to Adelaide and saw blood on the floor.  Her toe pad is torn.  Of course, she then decided to romp all over the living room and couch trying to get away from me and the paper towels... blood all over the couch.  I have managed to spot shot most of it.  Going to have to do another pass when I calm down and actually finally eat my dinner.  (Oh, even knocked my laptop off the couch in the midst of all the chasing her to stop the bleeding.)  Oy vey.

Most of the bleeding seems to have stopped.  I put Addy in her cozy cone to keep her from messing with it.  Going to have to play it by ear from here.  Might be taking a trip to the pet store in the morning to get a good booty.  The ones I have here won't stay on her.  She is now pouting over by the water bowl, but at least she's not running around.  This is going to stink.  Foot pads are a pain to heal and it's her one front leg.  Wish us luck.

Adelaide is a young tripawd Husky, from an injury.  Her amp was on 10/1/12.  She has 4 sisters, Aissa (a senior border collie/chow), Maggie May (a puppy Great Pyrenees), Mathilde and Morrigan and 1 baby brother, Bagheera.  We are all watched over by our angel Brendol, who was dx with OSA 1/30/13, amp on 2/6/13, and left us on 8/20/13.

Oh poor Addy! That is awful and on her only front paw to boot! :-( Poor girl. And the laptop! I haven't heard of a wolf moon but if it includes excessive crazy and manic behavior - that does make sense at our casa! Jasper has been the biggest PITA since I met her! This mama needs more wine!

Hope Addy feels better soon and I am glad Aissa didn't get injured in the process!

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

Oh no it has to be the moon! I was just outside looking at it here in CA and wanted to let out a big howl myself.

Geez sorry you had to have a Monday like that but I'm glad the girls are otherwise OK. I know that Petco or Petsmart, one of them, carries PAWZ booties, they're great for healing and maybe, just maybe, she won't be able to get them off. You might want to consider applying some makuna honey to the wound for faster healing. Let us know what works.  Good luck!

Wolf moon, huh?

When we got home from work last night it looked as if the girls had completely de-furred a black sheep. There was stuffing EVERYWHERE! Once I found the source (a brand spanky new dog bed), it took us nearly 2 hours to get it all cleaned up. AND, one of them broke a window pane. I'm so happy they weren't hurt, but really, come on, really????

Please tell me the Wolf moon only occurs for one night.

Harmony became a Tripawd on 10/21/14 (MCT). She left us way too soon on 11/1/14.

Thanks everyone.  She is doing pretty good.  This morning, she was so sad.  She would hop a few feet and then slink down to the floor and lay there with a sad face.  I took her to the vet just to be safe.  He said nothing we could do.  Just keep her paw clean and let it heal.  I had to leave town for work today, so I stocked up on bandaids (the self adhesive wrap ones) and other first aid items, plus some pawz boots and then I took Adelaide and Aissa to the pet sitters.  I spoke to them this afternoon and they said she was doing good.  They love the pawz boots.  Said they are working great for when they take her outside.  They are keeping her from playing or rough housing with the other dogs, which I'm sure she hates, but gotta keep her from opening that toe back up for now.  Let it heal.

Thanks for the well wishes,

Karma, Adelaide and the crew, and our special angel Brendol

Oh my goodness! Just catchingnup on thid worlf moon...Jerry howling...Pam's pups rippingnup stuff...Alison toasting wolves with wine...and Aissa whipping up on Addy!!!! WHat is going on down there in Georipgia????

I know it is scary to have Addy hurt her front paw and it has to be sore. She'll heal quickly though. You're doing everything possible to help.
Go check Aissa's mug.....II bet Aissa has a tiny smirk on her face!

Even in a cone, Addy looks so lretty,!!!

Love to yoh and the pack

Well, it's hard to see them so bummed out but the rest is good for healing. Glad you found the PAWZ boots, they are a real lifesaver.

Awwrrrrroooooo! to Addy's healing, she'll get there.

(and I agree, I'd love to see the smirk on Aissa's face!). Hope you're having a good trip. Be safe out there in that crazy weather!
