Hi folks,

I am a dog trainer working with a recent front leg amputee. Mia is a 60lb female Pit Bull who lost her leg after a severe mauling by other dog(s). She is about 1 mo post -op and I would like to get a harness for Mia to help her navigate more easily and to help her build up some core strength. I would appreciate input on harnesses that others have used that work well and any other info that would help me to help Mia. Mia has been in a animal hospital/shelter since March 2011. Are there any sites for used gear out there? I am also looking for tripawd strenthening equipment to help her build up her strength and endurance. Mia also seeks a forever home. For more information on Mia, please contact me. Best regards, Julie

Hi Jullie & Mia, thanks for joining us here.

I hope you don't mind but I put your post here in "Hopping Around" since you have rehab and mobility questions.

There are lots of comments here in the Forums and also in our Tripawds Gear Blog about the harnesses we've found most useful for Tripawds. By far, our favorite is the Ruff Wear Webmaster for dogs who are still fairly mobile but just need a bit of assistance from time to time.

You may want to check out these California Animal Rehab videos that have some great rehab tips, as well as our Gear Blog's Fitness Page which shows some fun tools for core strengthening methods (a strong core is one of the main keys to staying strong and mobile for a dog, especially as a Tripawd)

Consider starting a Tripawds Dog Blog for Mia, we've seen at least 2 or 3 dogs find permanent homes this way. It's a fantastic way to show off her pawsonality and spread the word!

Can't wait to learn more about her. Thanks for giving us a chance to be a part of helping her get strong and find a home!

It's better to hop on three legs than to limp on four.™
