Jaxon is a little over one month post amp. Occasionally he yelps and jumps up as if something hurt him. This happens less than once a day. He also licks at his "stump" area (he doesn't really have a stump since they weren't able to salvage any of his leg) but not obsessively. He used to try stairs but now wants his harness to attempt the stairs. Should I make an appointment? Might he be in pain?

Hey Jaxon and Family, I'm sorry to hear that Jaxon is experiencing any kind of pain. There is a great thread Here with three dogs dealing with phantom limb pain in three different ways.

You know him best and if you think something is wrong I would definitely ask your vet. My dog Rusty is two months post amp and doesn't do stairs yet but I do remember reading about some other kiddos that didn't want to do stairs or get in a car without their harness, extra security for them I guess.

Let us know what you find out!

Those are some signs of pain, I would seek input from a canine rehab practitioner, as long as they work with a vet who can help pinpoint the issue. The Tripawds Foundation will even pay for your first rehab visit !
