Hello All!

I'm new to the community and looking forward to feedback!  I have search and searched for a really long time in regards to some walking support for my three legged treeing walker coonhound.  We adopted her about 7 years ago when she was about 1 year old.  She was found walking the woods in Kentucky with a bad shotgun injury to her left front leg.  They had to amputate completely at the shoulder, there is no nub.  She has handled it well but as she is aging, as expected, she is slowing down a bit.

I'm trying to find some kind of brace, wheel or support for her, but I can't find anything for a full frontal amputee.  Has anyone had any experience with any prosthetics or "wheelchairs" that they may be able to suggest or point me in some sort of direction?  Any information would be helpful and thank you all in advance!  Here's a picture of her to show you her situation.

Just in case you missed these, here are a few blog posts, video interviews and forum topics that address your concerns...

Without any residual limb, prosthetics are not an option, but braces and orthotics are available for supporting weight on remaining limbs. Don't miss our Orthopets Video Interviews and various posts about prosthetics for more information.

Please review the various posts about wheelchairs for important details about how a wheelchair can help—when to use one, and more importantly, when not to!

Our best recommendation is to consult with a certified canine rehab vet/tech (CCRT or CCRP ) for a professional evaluation and recommendations. They can provide exercises to improve strength in remaining limbs and help prevent injuries, or prescribe and measure for a brace or wheelchair if recommended. The Tripawds Foundation may even erimburse you for your first visit from Maggie Moo Fund for Tripawd Rehab.

While you wait for comments from others, use the Advanced Search above to refine your forum search results with specific phrases, and you're sure to find lots of helpful feedback. You can also search all blogs here . Or, consider downloading the Tripawds e-books for fast answers to common concerns and feel free to call the toll-free Tripawds Helpline anytime!

Just want to say welcome and thanknyiu for adopting!

I wasn't able to see the photo, but perhaps others can. I have a tavlet and sometimes they just don't "see" what computers do! And sometimes tavlets "see" things no kne else can! But that's another story!

Joint supplements may help also.

Anyway, I also have an adopted front legger tripawd Coonhound. Here's a picture....can't wait to see your pup! :-

Hi there and welcome to tripawds 🐾

My girl Eurydice is also a front leg amputee but I have no knowledge or experience with prosthetics ...

Hopefully others will chime in to share their experiences.

In the meantime you've got a lot of great info through Jerry's links ...

Sending you hugs and cuddles to your sweetie 😘😘😘💕🐶💕
