Unfortunately I found a lump on the front of Milly's shoulder last week, just above where her leg was amputated.  Vet thinks it's another cancerous lymph node.  The lump is getting bigger every day and this morning I found a lump on her tummy Cry

Millie looks so adorable and happy in the pictures! It really sounds like she recovered quickly from her amputation and has been enjoying her life so far! I'm so sorry to hear about the new lesions… Had she already started on any post surgical treatments before that appeared? Did the vets offer any kind of treatment options for her now?

I hope and pray that things aren't as bad as they sound… and that somehow Millie can get some treatment that helps to slow down the spread of this aweful disease! My Jake is only 14 days post his amputation surgery, and I worry about every little single thing. None of us know how long we have left with our babies… We just do whatever we can to keep them happy and pain-free… I don't know what else to say to make you feel any better… I can just imagine what you are feeling right now. Just love her, spoil her… and please keep us posted on her progress.

Sending a big hug your way!!!

Sorry to hear about the new growths!  I, too, hope Milly can try something that will slow down those nasty little cancer cells.  Keep us posted and we'll be thinking about you!!

Oh we are so sorry to hear this. Has the lump been aspirated yet? We hope it's not what the vet thinks it is, paws crossed that it's just a fatty tumor or something.

We send our love, and hope that despite this, Millie is still smiling and looking as hoppy as she does in the pics. What a pretty girl :)

Keep us posted OK?

Very sad to say Milly left us on Sunday 20th December.

She had been running around enjoying herself with the other dogs right up until the week before.  The vet was amazed she was still going – the tumour on her shoulder had grown so big and heavy that she was starting to tip over on that side, but she kept going and the weekend before she had a 90 minute run without any problems.

Her appetite wasn't great though so on the Friday we went to the vet and he gave her an injection of anabolic steriods.  On Saturday her appetite was even worse and she was very listless.  I took her to bed but she was whining and couldn't settle, so I put her back in her bed downstairs.  Now I wish that I had kept her with me for that last night Cry

I came down at 6 am on Sunday morning and she was lying just inside the living room door.  She was trying to get up to go outside with the others but she was so weak she just  toppled over.  Her gums were deathly pale. I wrapped her in a blanket, got dressed and took her straight to the vet for her last journey.  I looked into her eyes as she lay on the vets table and she just looked blankly back at me.  The tumour had started to bleed out and she was dying, so the vet helped her on her way while I held her and talked to her and kissed her Cry

I am thankful that at least her deterioration was quite quick and that there was no doubt whatsoever that I was doing the right thing, which was the part I had been dreading most.

This is the last photo I took of her, the weekend before she died.

She has left such a huge hole in my life and I am hoping her ashes will be ready for collection today so that she can come home for Christmas.

Sleep tight my Milly-mouse, and remember you were much loved and always will be.

I'm so sorry for your loss.  I love the pic.  She has such a sweet little face.  it seems she deteriorated quickly, and I think that would be my preference. There is not an easy way to say goodby to our friends.

Sending comfort your way as you face the difficult days ahead.

RIP sweet Millie.  Run free at Rainbow Bridge.

I am so so sorry to hear you lost your sweet Millie.  She was very loved and you did everything you could for her.  The pain lasts unbelievable long.  Someone on tripawds once said we grieve deeply  because we loved deeply.  I know that to be true. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

We are deeply saddened by this news about losing Millie. Please accept our deepest condolences, and know that by sharing her story here you will certainly be helping others who face the same fight with their own dogs. Peace.
