Hello everyone.

Junior was amputated his right foreleg leg a month and a half ago due to an accident.
He is currently living his life very well, but yesterday we went to the orthopedic and Junior is getting a hygroma on his elbow from his only front leg. The orthopedist says that while not growing much is not serious, but that if it continues to grow it may need to be operated. Probably this is caused because for lack of one of his front legs, he lies down very abruptly striking his elbow.
I would like to know if any of you have gone through a similar situation (problems with elbow hygrome) and what they have done to prevent or control it.

Elbow hygroma: a small lump filled with fluid that is housed in the elbow.

Thank you very much for your help

Hey there's Junior! What a cutie, we've missed you! Sounds like he's good overall?

Yes, hygromas are common especially in Tripawds. Sometimes they grow sometimes they do not. You can minimize the risk by making sure he has lots of soft areas to lie down on, avoid keeping him on concrete and hard floors.

These posts about hygromas also have other ideas for ya:

These often resolve with adequate padding alone.  I recommend Dog Leggs.

Hi all.
I have been consulting a lot about the elbow hygromas and I have read all the information you recommended to me. We have evaluated and considered that the best option for tripawds is the one offered by Dog Leggs; This weekend we will validate this with Junior's orthopedist. As you know, we live in Colombia and it would be easy to place the order so that the product reaches us directly to our country. However, we would like you to give us an opinion: Because Dog Leggs makes the product to the measure, do you consider that it is necessary that the product is received by someone in the United States to verify that it adapts to the measures requested and in case it does not , Can manage the adjustment? Or are we confident that the product will arrive with the appropriate measures and we place the order directly for Colombia?

Thank you for all the advice you can give us at the time of placing the order, because for us an investment of $ 163 US is quite high so it would be a big problem that when the product arrives is not the appropriate measures for Junior.

My dog Bosch (quadpaw) had a Hygroma.  I used another product similar to the dog Leggs but Bosch didn't like care for them so I put him in a long sleeve t-shirt cut the one leg off that didn't have the issue and put female hygiene (pad) in the sleeve.  I could then change it out if it got nasty with the drainage.  I don't know if that will work for Junior or not.

Well, I know that the company has been in business for many years and I personally have never heard anyone who was dissatisfied with their products. It would be hard for anyone to tell if the product won't fit properly without actually putting it on Junior.

Usually the problems happen when the customer doesn't measure properly for a product, so be sure to measure at least twice for accuracy.

Also be sure to ask DogLeggs how they will work with you on re-adjusting the product if it doesn't fit. At the very least they may be able to pay for return shipping should you need to send it back.

Let us know what happens OK?

Thank you Jerry and Michell.

Michell, thank you very much for your advice. For Junior, I made something similar to what you mentioned: I used two stockings to which I cut the closed extensions to insert them by the leg to the elbow. Then I put one inside the other and between both I put padding so that it was quilted in the part of the elbow. Then I put two belts cooked in the middle so that they held the stocking around the neck and did not slip. I put a photo of Junior to see the DIY protector we did:

Jerry, thank you very much for your advice. I will try to contact the store to review how the issue of returns could be handled should it be necessary (although I really hope it is not)

Thank you very much.

I wasn't saying not a good product for either company. In fact I recommend both for someone.  Bosch didn't like to have something on him like that.  He loves to "dress up" so the shirt worked awesome.

looks like what you made for JR was pretty good.
