Given that Izzy is twelve and lost a front limb, I'm concerned about her carrying 65% of her weight on just one leg. I hear it cracking when she hops so was thinking a compression sleeve like this one might offer some support. I also started her on a joint supplement but wanted to see if anyone tried a sleeve like this and if it was helpful?

Momma to the world's most beautiful American Bulldog, Izzy!! Lost her front leg to OSA 9/18/15. Diagnosed w MCT in June 2016. Celebrated her 1 year ampuversary with knee surgery on 9/18/16! MCT recurrence in Dec 2016. Happy & hungry til nearly 14, earning her wings on 7/31/17.

We've never heard of anyone using a compression sleeve like that, but others may provide feedback.

If you're concerned about damage to remaining limbs, consider watching our video interviews with Orthopets about the benefits of orthotic braces for tripawds.

Interesting mixed reviews on Amazon. As long as Izzy doesn't try and chew it off, it may be beneficial. I would be concerned about too tight though and possible interfering with circulation.

What does your vet say?

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

Going to see the vet tomorrow and plan to ask about it. Honestly, I don't think has had too many three legged patients ... we don't exactly live in a "high income" area, so most pet owners in my situation around here would've put their animal down for lack of funds for surgery. My vet was actually super excited that I found Helping Hands because it will be a good resource, at least for folks who have the means to make the 2 hour drive there.

I'll let you know what she recommends and if I get one, how Izzy does with it. 🙂

Here's Izzy at the vet today 🙂

Dr. Reeves said that the compression could prevent Izzy from building up the muscle necessary to support her weight well on the remaining front leg. However, she didn't rule it out down the road for support. Because of Izzy's age and diagnosis, we may never get to that stage but I thought I would post the info from the vet for those also considering a compression sleeve.

I think that sounds really logical, thank you for sharing it here.
Smooches to Izzy, she is so pretty!
