OfflineI picked up my tripawd a few weeks ago. She was a bit overweight and not used to exercise.
I go on a 30-45 min walk with my Cattle Dog mix and decided to start bringing Foxy along (all 24 lbs of her at the time, Golden/Corgi mix).
At first she'd walk about a half block and I'd carry her another. It was getting hard esp with rain. I got a wagon.
She was doing good with it at first but soon she really wanted to walk (she darts to the door now when I get her leash).
Poor girl took a faceplant jumping before I could stop her. She's going to lose the large incisor on her upper left. :( Sad part was she was done with the wagon already. She's down 3+lbs (over 10% of her original bodyweight) and mostly active…now she has this set back…
She's taking it well, we were hoping after the vet visit that day that the blood flow to the tooth was still good. It's darkened quite a bit in just a week and still loose so it's probably done.
I'd recommend anyone using a wagon to harness their pup each time for safety. I am sure my accident was a big rarity, but at the same time I already had a harness I use in the car I could have strapped her in with in the wagon.
She's a very happy dog here. She's taught my other dog the you can bark for attention ![]()

OfflineOh No!!! I'm glad the damage was not more – but it still stinks! Good public warning about the harness thing.
What kind of wagon were you using? I aquired one, but not sure if it will work yet – I need to rinse it out and see if it can be repaired. If it cannot be repaired at least I can get an idea if she will fit and tolerate riding along.

OfflineOhhhh poor pup, we're so sorry. Thank you for the head's up. Yes indeed, we recommend having some kind of hitch you can attach a very short leash to, just in case. We've heard of this happening.
Great to hear about the weight loss though, that's super news.
Smooches to Foxy and your cattle dawg!

OfflinePoor poor Foxy! It kills me when they face fall!
I'm so glad you are enjoying her, she sounds like a great pooch!
Talk about feeling bad…One time I didn't have Comet's covered stroller latched very well (opened from the front and back) and when I stopped fast - the door flew open and I threw her out of it on the street! She just like flew out of it!
Once I knew she was okay, it was good for a laugh!
Comet's has lost 3, maybe 4 large teeth over the course of her 12 years of prat-falling. I hate to get her teeth cleaned since I know there is always going to be a cracked tooth! ($175-300 a pop!)
Comet - 1999 to 2011She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.

OfflinePoor Roxy!
I'm sorry that she hurt her tooth… Luckily it wasn't anything more serious… She is absolutely adorable in her avatar pic. You gotta post more pictures of your cutie!!!
