Boots or Socks in the House

Based on the advice I've gotten here we have runners in strategic places around the first floor of the house so that Duke can move from room to room on the hardwood floor. However, he's still very uneasy about the few areas that don't have runners. He has some really nice boots that when he's wearing walks fearlessly everywhere. Is it ok to leave his boots on all day (when we're home)?

Sure! If Duke tolerates them, boots are a great traction solution. If you do not already, consider using the socks for additional comfort and to absorb moisture since paw pads are the only places dogs sweat.

You might also consider Power Paws traction socks or Pawz Booties inside the house. Click any traction link for more helpful recommendations.

I actually placed the runners in my house strategically so my dog would have something of a „catwalk „ (bad pun, sorry) for him to move around on.  After a while I noticed that he really stuck to that route and was very comfortable with that solution.

My dog wasn’t all that comfortable with boots or socks so that wasn’t really an option but I was also a little apprehensive about his getting sores from wearing them too long.

However, I do think that dogs in boots are the cutest, so I think a picture of Duke in gear would be in order.... just saying 😊

Just wanted to add that the PAWZ  are excellent but should NOT be left on for long periods.  They are fairly tight at the top and that could make for some swelling if left on a long wbile.

As Tina mentioned, runners and yoga mats are great options.  As someone said here one rime, it looked like a Clown threw up all lver her floors with all the different colored rugs all over the place!

Looooove his avatar picture!! 🙂

Bruce is a rear amp tripawd, and we got him a set of non-slip socks (the brand is Grippers, located in British Columbia, Canada), it took a little getting used to, but once he was used to them he didn't mind them at all, we only ever put one on his remaining rear foot, but it gave him much more confidence on the hard floors, the only drawback is that they were no good outside if it was snowy or icy.
