I will be adopting a dog who lost his lower hind legs to toxic syndrome. He was having some problems with his front left paw, but at the moment, things look promising for this limb. Does anyone have any suggestions in his care, limb covers/boots, and wheelchairs? Any and all help is appreciated! Thanks in advanced.smiley

I believe the owners of Eddie's Wheels a wheel chair company for dogs, currently owns two bi paws. They have videos on blog entries about their pups. Google eddies wheels.

Hi there and welcome. You're pawesome for giving this dog a loving home. Here is an article we wrote about Eddie's Wheels. The article relates to Tripawds but has tips about rehab therapy and getting around. Two legged dogs are a different kind of challenge but many folks here have experience with pet paralysis and hip/leg surgery recovery for Tripawds, so I'm hoping they chime in.

Keep us posted on how things are going. We would love to see some photos of your new pup!

I have no advice, just encouragement! When I was at the orthopedic surgeon's office and had just been told that amputation was the best avenue, I was a bit upset and nervous at the prospect. I asked the vet if she had any experience with tripawds and quality of life, and she smiled and told me to wait. She came back with not one but TWO dogs who were born without front legs who were adopted by a vet tech. They got around so well, scooting all over the office.

Nimee is a dog in my area who only has her two hind legs. She's on Facebook: https://www.fac.....m/nimeeTDI

She has an Eddie's Wheels Wheelchair and is super inspawrational!

Right rear leg amp due to injury from unknown cause (but don't tell her she's missing her spare...yes HER!)

Thank you all for you input! I will be checking out the websites. My fur baby already has a wheelchair . However, we will be doing daily wound care. Thanks so much!

I just have to add that I have always considered myself a cat person. But, when I came across Dexter, I had to have him. He needs me and I know it. My cats like dogs and we have one dog already. We have even gone to visit him in the shelter. I hope to bring him home Thursday. I work nights in the ER and I didn't want to adopt him and then not be home. I start a new job after Tuesday and I will be able to be home with him more and every night!

Dexter is so lucky to find you! You work in the ER? Wow, it was meant to be. Bi-pawds are definitely welcome here so please keep us posted, we would love to learn from your experience as there have been many times when Tripawds have been temporarily two-legged or unable to walk, so whatever you can teach us would be so appreciated. Can't wait to hear about Dexter's homecoming!
