Hello, long lost community. I'm sorry I haven't been around. Life took over. Winnie has had a good year but the doc says her time is up soon. Her cancer post amputation did, in fact, spread. And she has a mass in her gut the size of a grapefruit. But, she's doing ok. She won't eat much and her weight has dropped dramatically. Does anyone have any advice on hi caloric foods that are tasty? I need Ensure for dogs! Anyway, would love some advice. Peace to all. - Alison & Winnie

Just seeing Winnie's avatar picture pop up makes me smile...jist likeit always has and always will!

Winnie is such a success story around here. Sorry she has a new "challenge", but glad she still is enjoying good quality time full of loving

and spoiling.

Actually, I think Ensure, or some form of it, can be used for dogs! I'm no vet, but double check. I know a lot of mini meals maybe five times a day could help too. .ashed potatoes with some gravy flavoring....maybe mac and cheese..jist throwing some things out there.

Wonder if Prednisone could help, not only stimulate her appetite, but help reduce inflammation caused by the mass (in the surrounding areas).

Hopefully others can be more helpful.

As you know, no dog has a timeframe stamped on their butts.Winnie has pretty much defied all predictions snd challenges from the start of this journey. She's a very strong willed doggy! And she sure has a wonderful advocate as her human.

Now, .ore than ever, stay in the moment and let NOTHING rob you of your time together! E joy the bliss of everyday, just like you always have...and just like Winnie always does!

Now, I'm sure it was just an error on your part. I know you didn't mean to make a post without a picture of sweet Winnie! That was just a mistake, right? Okay...were all looking forward to seeing that beautiful girl's pictures!!!

Sending lots of love and hugs

So sorry to hear about Winnie!

Check these forum results for appetite loss with lots of tips from members who went through the same thing. Prednisone certainly helped Jerry regain his appetite—and energy—during his final few weeks.

You'll also find these various tips for increasing appetite in the Tripawds Nutrition blog .

Best wishes! Please keep us posted.

Alison I'm so sad to hear this, it's a tough spot to be in. You can lean on us, don't forget OK?

There are quite a few tricks folks have for perking up appetites. One of my faves is goat's milk. Have you tried it? It IS like Ensure for dogs.

You'll also find high calorie pet supplements in the form of tasty gels that she might find yummy. I can't think of what they're called right now but hopefully someone else will.

Give your sweet girl a big, big smooch from us. If you need anything at all, don't hesitate to contact us OK?

Jerry, this may be the gel you're thinking about from GNC. I know Liz used in for Roxy and she felt like it helped her. If I recall, you basically just smear it in their mouths and on their gums. Roxy seemed to like the taste and Liz felt like she was getting some nutrition in her.

Oh Alison, stinky turkey liverwurst...try that roo! The stinkier the better.! Let us know if anynof these tios help, including the Pred.

Lots of love.

Sally you have a memory like a steel trap! Thank you. Yes, that's the stuff.

I know I've seen it at ag stores too like Tractor Supply, and I'm sure the usual Petcos will have it.
