I'll add more info over the weekend when I'm on something bigger than a tablet, but I just ordered Lexie a supply of Canna-pet supplements. A friend of mine at work had a cancer cat at one point and said she happened to see a four-part TV documentary called Medical Marijuana: Miracle Cure. It talked mostly about successes for humans but they did mention some pet studies.

So, I consulted Dr. Google and found http://www.canna-pet.com, which is a made in the USA hemp-based product. It has a lot of benefits according to their site -- pain relief, appetite stimulant, calming agent, the list goes on...but the main reason I got it is because it also supposedly helps with anti-tumor proliferation. It doesn't interfere with chemo, NSAIDs, other meds, supplements, Chinese herbals, etc., because apparently it uses different biological pathways than the other stuff.

I'll let y'all know more after it arrives...fingers and paws crossed that it will help with Lexie's new tumor and her lung mets. (And Rene, if you want to move or cross-post this anywhere else on the forums, please feel free. I feel like it could go under multiple categories.)

Sorry...I should have used pets in the subject line. They make it for cats, too!

Haha I thought you were a spammer when I saw the topic title! We've been hit by a number of spam posts about hemp oil, not necessarily for pets, but ....

Let us know if you see a difference. Nobody has ever posted about pot for pets before, congrats, you're the first! ;)

We can't wait to hear how she's doing! You've both been on our minds this week so do post when you can. Lotsa love coming your way.

I forgot to mention that the largest number of their testimonials are about the supplement's benefits for pets with seizures, especially as an alternative to phenobarbital.

Rene said..."spam posts...hemp not necessarily for pets, but..."

Lol, Rene! I was thinking that Canna-Pet should offer some kind of Canna Pet-Parent complementary formula to help with those nights when you can't sleep, feel extra stress and worry before check-ups, X-rays and blood work. etc. I just need the non-appetite stimulating formula since I have the opposite problem in that department. (Pass the chocolate and chips!).

Lexie is honored to be the first Tripawd to try Canna-Pet. Now I just need to get her a special Gin & Juice water bowl and a supply of extra-yummy treats for when the munchies hit.

If it works maybe I can get her a gig as the Canna-Pet spokesdog! smiley

I can just see Lexie with the munchies while listening to a little Grateful Dead!!

Seriously, this would be so fascinating to see how Miss Lexie handles this!

Actually, I think I saw part of this documentary and it made a huge difference in the life of a little gitl who suffered from numerous seizures daily.

Okay Lexie, you're taking one for the team kiddo! Good luck!!!
LOVE! Lots of it!!

Sally and Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle too!

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

Deb,

What a great idea. It certainly has great medical benefits for people, why not pets. Did you need a prescription? Now don't you go dipping into Lexie's special meds.

Sally, that cat looks like it's definitely had some canna pet.

Keep us posted on the effects of the supplement. And if it doesn't work you can send it on to us for Hank.laughing

Deb, I am so anxious to hear how this works for her. Your sense of humor is great. The gin bowl and munchie comment made me chuckle. But , seriously, it does sound like it could have multiple benefits. Anything to make our babies more comfortBle during this journey, is worth a try. The munchies, sounds like an added good thing, given the usual struggle most of us have had with loss of appetite. ( our dogs, unfortunately, mine is fine) you are a great Mom to Lexie, she is blessed to have you! Hugs from, Lori and Ty

TY GUY, Best Black Lab ever! Diagnosed  and had amp in January, 2014. Kicked MRSA's butt. Earned his angel wings on April 16, 2014. Run Free my boy and don't forget a shoe. Ty is a proud member of the " April Angels". Ty sent us Daryl, a Tripawd rescue in Sept. of 2016. Daryl is 5 +or -. We are also Pawrents to Chandler, a Border Collie mix who is 15 and 1/2, Lucy, a Corgi who is 7, 2 minis, 2 horses, and a feisty cat named Zoe. Zoe had a non skeletal Osteosarcoma removed in July 2015. No Chemo, she was at least 16. She is going strong although she is now completely blind. She is now close to 20 and her hobbies are eating and sleeping in front of her personal heater.

Ha ha!!! Too funny! I actually heard about this last year for dogs! I think it's brilliant! However, if Shelby had taken it ,her already voracious appetite would have been through the roof.

Who's the kitty, Sally? She definitely looks like she's been into the 'nip'! 🙂

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

Wow...I've never heard of medical marijuana for pets (I actually chuckled at the "pot for pets" reference).  Is it something regulated like CO and WA are doing for the human version?

If it's helpful for our pets dealing with cancer I say go for it and give it a try.  I can't wait to read about how Lexie does with it and if she indeed gets crazy "munchies"...lol winker

So, Lexie's pot *hopefully* will arrive tomorrow....just in time, since she's really slowed down again the past day or so, plus she's been having tummy trouble and didn't want to eat tonight. She walked her dog walker very briefly today, and tonight she wanted to go at first but decided she wasn't up for it after I got her harness on.

Now we're sitting outside in the yard and I'm telling her how much she's going to love her pot for pets.big-grin

Sally, I'll definitely need to get Lexie a tie dye T shirt! And who is that handsome Stoner, btw? My friend mentioned the part in the documentary about the little girl; just amazing!

Penny, Sahana, and anyone else who is curious, you don't need a prescription. And it's not regulated because they take the bad stuff out. They have an interesting grid on their site about the different forms of medicinal pot and how it's different from what a few of us may have had way back in the day. Kind of interesting.

Lori, Allison, Rene, and all, thanks so much for all the encouragement and support. And I forgot to mention that they have pot for pets treats, too!

Stoner the stoned cat is one of the "drop offs" that is about fifth  in line to get his little kitty balls snipped right off!

.Stoner keeps his distance from me......perhaps because he knows my "snip-snip plan".....but loves Merry Myrtle and is her velcro kitty.  He tried to be best pals with Happy Hannah, but she just tolerated him.

MM takes her sticks to him, her stuffies, her frisbee and puts them right in his face trying to gets him to play.  He just sits there and stares at her like he's stoned out of his mind.  Definitely thinks he's dog though[Image Can Not Be Found].

DEB!!!! IT'S WORKING!!!!!!

Okay, as soon as Rene sees your ppst update........RENE!!!!!! Please erae all those posts that were going haywire because of that ADMIN GUY apparently getting into Lexie's canna-pet treats and chajnging stiff!!!

Okay, what I real l y wanted to address was....try not to worry about Lexie being a little off today. Asyou well know, the heat and humidity nhave been lretty rought these last couple of days. She's in her "having a less good day" of the " good days- less good days" art of the journey....the ups and down, one day at a time
part. Sounds like her overall attitude is still good and she's not in pain.

I know, even though you are soooo grateful for each and every day of her twilight years and you are stayingn i n the present magnificently, it is still stressful...a very heightened awareness of every little nuance.

One thing you can be ABSOLUTELY certain....you and Lexie are sooooo very connected that each and every decision you make for Lexie...whatever those decisions are...will all be applauded by Miss Lexie!!! She has EVERY confidence in the world that you will always hsve her well beingat heart. The bliss of being your dog!!! Ahhhhh, the joy of it all!!

Sending lots of love!!!!!!!!

Sally and Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle too!

LOL @ nip nip .... too funny!!!

Oh Deb... we don't need pot treats around here either ... Jasper is already high as a kite on life most of the time!!! And she's going on a boot camp diet - getting some curves that need to be toned up a bit!

Hang in there... if it's hot and muggy, I don't blame Lexie for being a bit more lethargic. That weather makes me drag too... hugs and love!

Morning January 25 2015 starting out our journey with our beloved Bing, our  7 year old yellow lab.  We own a natural pet food store in northeast Ohio and Bing is a celebrity at our store. He has an annual Birthday bash in August  with as many as 300 guest attending. We expect a great celebration of his journey this year too. He started limping in February and through numerous vet visits, X-rays, and biopsies our worst fears were confirmed. He joined Tripaws last Thursday and is healing well.  I was familiar with k9 Immunity, I just reordered again this week for more diligent administration. I researched Canni-pet since we are distributing the Dog Naturally Magazine at our store. I ordered my first large dog wafer pack yesterday.  I am a firm believer that Cannibus has positive results, as well as medicinal mushrooms. I was happy to see that the harmful THC was removed from the dog and cat version so that it would not have adverse effects. I will be documenting Bing's Journey of Courage on our Facebook page daily, as well as on Tripawds site ( which I find a blessing during the difficult time, thank you Jerry) I am looking forward to hopefull success. Stay tuned for our testimony
