After we discovered Jerry's osteosarcoma lung metastases, we started him on metronomics and a daily regimen of supplements including K9 Immunity . We believed it helped stabilize the disease and helped contribute to his two-year survival.

With K9 Immunity Plus now available in a single wafer form, we are seeking feedback from others who have used this product as part of their tripawd's cancer fighting nutrition plan.

exclamation Please reply with your thoughts about K9 Immunity , K9 Immunity Plus, Transfer Factor, K9 Omega or any of the other dog immunity supplements available from K9 Medicinals.

Not familiar with K9 Immunity ? Check the following Tripawds News blog posts and other forum topics for additional feedback.

I gave Shooter the Immunity Plus immediately after surgery and through his first round of chemo. When the 2nd tumor appeared on the amp site I discontinued the use being afraid that maybe it had interfered with the original chemo protocol of Vinblastine. I started him back on it when the 2nd chemo drug (lomustine) severely compromised his immune system. When he was first taking it his energy level was very high and he seemed to have a lot of strength. I regret stopping it for awhile as I honestly think it would have helped him feel better a little longer and would have kept his strength up better towards the end. He loved the taste and looked on it as his special treat.

Spirit Shooter was a Miniature Australian Shepherd who was diagnosed with a MCT and had a LF amp 1/28/13 at 13-1/2 years old.

Shooter crossed the Bridge on 8/28/13, his 7 month ampuversary and two weeks from his 14th birthday.

We use K9 Immunity on our tripawd beagle more than a year after chemo has ended. When we fell off his daily dose, he developed a respiratory infection almost immediately. The vet noted that his immunity system would take quite a while to rebound. We put him back on and he has been fine since. He does view them as a biscuit which makes it easy to administer.

We love K-9 Immunity Plus. We first used it when my 8 year old lab/pit mix was diagnosed with lymphoma. He was on that, prednisone and a grain free diet and lived a year and a half when they told us he had 30-60 days. About a month before he passed away I decreased his K-9 immunity plus bc I thought he was doing so well and wasn't thinking about his original diagnosis. I think that's what caused him to go downhill. It started with him eating really slow when normally he would practically eat in one bite to then not eating at all and vomiting. When Marshall was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma we put him on K-9 Immunity plus 2 days after. We knew that we had to get him on it immediately. I don't know if it works but we believe it does and I don't think it can hurt.

My 125 lb. Bull Mastiff, Happy Hannah, has been on K9 Immunity Plus Wafer, or the K9 Immunity Capsule and Transfer Factor Wafer, off and on for over a year. She also has been on Apocaps off and on as well. Large dogs require a large number of these supplements. My finances didn't always allow me to maintain as consistent dosing as I would have liked.
Happy Hannah had her leg amutated over a year ago and received four treatments of Carboplatin. I observed a higher energy level when she was on K9 Immunity Plus and Apocaps and felt like I observed a slightly lower energy level when she was off them.

Can prove these supplements have given her an extra boost of quality estended time? No.

Do I beleive these supplements have given her an extra boost of quality extended time? Yes!

Thank you for the opportunity to provide feedback on a product that I truly believe helps give a slight advantage to our dogs on this journey.

Sally and Happy Hannah

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

I never got a chance to try K9 Immunity with Tri-Pug Maggie, but I have used it with for three years with quad pug Tani.  Tani had three mast cell cancer tumors removed in 2007 and was clear until 2011.  Then I had three more tumors removed, but before the pathology report was even back two more tumors popped up.  Tani was aging and has several other critical health issues so I didn't want to do the recommended chemotherapy, I decided to treat her with diet and supplements. I added K9 Immunity Plus to her diet in the Summer of 2011 and within a week or so I noticed an improvement in her energy level. In 2012 we started seeing and Eastern Medicine Vet.  She asked me to take Tani off K9 Immunity to try another therapy; in addition to the cancer we were trying to treat arthritis and a blood platelet issue.  I immediately saw a decline in Tani's energy level.  At the next visit we decided to put Tani back on the K9 Immunity Plus and again I saw her energy level rise. We have since found a balance of diet, herbs and supplements, including K9 Immunity Plus which is keeping Tani as healthy as possible considering all her issues and the fact that she will turn 14 later in June.  I know the cancer has not been cured, tumors are still apparent from time to time. But she is still here, and I know the K9 Immunity Plus helps her every day.

I'll have to look for a current picture of her if you still want that.

Tri-pug Maggie survived a 4.5 year mast cell cancer battle only to be lost to oral melanoma.

When Daisy was first diagnosed with OSA, before her amputation and chemo, we started K9 Immunity Plus.  We kept her on it for 6 months during treatment, but stopped when x-rays showed mets in her lungs.  At that point we discontinued it, and also stopped the no-grain diet and let her eat whatever she wanted thinking she didn't have much time left.  After switching to a new chemo drug, her lung mets disappeared, and she had another year of great quality life.  We never did restart the K9 Immunity , just felt it did nothing for her.

Hi Daisysmom,

Could you please share what chemo treatment worked the second time for your dog? My mastiff is about to start his first treatment of carboplatin in a week.

Thanks!

Hi Rose & Duke, thanks for joining us here, your future posts won't require approval.

Be sure to check out "Size and Age Matters" for lots of discussion about giant breeds, chemo and life on three legs. A search for "Carboplatin" will reveal tons of insight too.

Good luck next week, let us know how it goes, we'll be thinking of you!

Does anypawdy else have K9 Immunity experiences they would like to share here? So many new members want to know how it worked for those who have tried it, this is a handy resource to send them to when they ask. Thanks a bunch for taking time to share your experience!
