thinking about getting Taste of the Wild Dry Dog Food, Wetlands Canine Formula with Roasted Wild Fowl. Would that be a good choice?

OfflineHey Danny,
I hope you don't mind that I moved your post here, but since it's about Nutrition and not Gabapentin anymore I thought this was a better fit.
So as far as food recommendations go, check our Nutrition Blog Diet Page for our best information. Other members also have some great tips too!
Your girl looks like she's getting her rest. What a sweetie.

Offlinedanny, we remember in posts gone by that some vets don't recommend you change up your tripawd's diet when you're doing chemo. there's so much going all with the chemo affecting the g.i. tract, new food on top of that might be a total 'blow out'… ask your vet, and maybe see if you should wait to modify your gal's diet until after the treatments are over. good luck with your chemo!!!

OfflineI just found a new dry food that I'm mixing in with Champ's food (and adding it for the others)…
Blue Buffalo makes a wilderness line that is "LOW CARB, HIGH PROTEIN"… they even have Duck flavor which is good for Champ's allergies… It's got 36% protein which is by far the highest I've found… and they all love it…
Check it out…

OfflineI'm going to echo ETGayle on this one. Trouble had horrible allergies, and one of the things the vet requested was that we not change her food until after the chemo. He didn't want to try to figure out if it was the drug or the food if she should develop a problem.
It is natural to try to do everything at once, and hard to convince ourselves not to. For me, trusting my vet was a natural. I knew without doubt he had Trouble's best interest at heart and he would fight as hard as we did for her health.

Thanks for the responses.
I'll wait until after the chemo treatments are done before changing her diet. I'll just keep her on K9 Immunity and her regular joint supplements.

OfflineThank you Gayle & Trouble, I should have thought of that! (Hey it was late!).
They're right Danny, you will want to wait to make sure that she sails though chemo without any gastrointestinal upset. Your onco vet will probably also want you to hold off on the K9 until all sessions are done too. Talk with them but in general this is what we have been told by oncologists, to wait until the chemo is done. Hang in there, it'll be over before you know it.

Alright I'll hold off on the K9 and change of diet until the chemo treatments are done.
Btw, my dog was just finishinig up treatment for thyroid cancer.
16 radiation treatments
2 chemo treatments and with 1 treatment away from finishing we noticed something wrong with her leg and you know the rest of the story.
She did great on chemo and we noticed no side effects at all.

OfflineI can only imagine what you are going through after the thyroid cancer. Many good thoughts for a speedy recovery and uneventful chemo. Trouble was given carboplatin. She had surprisingly mild reaction to it. Some mild nausea, several hours after the chemo was administered, and chills after a couple of treatments. None of it lasted more than an hour or so.

Edit – I notified someone on dogfoodadvisor.com about why Tripett isn't on the list and got this response.
"Hi Daniel… You’re right. Somehow, I never tagged this dog food as grain free. So, Tripett never made my Best Wet Grain Free Dog Food list. It’s now been fixed. Thanks for the tip."
He added it to the grain-free list so no response is necessary to my post below.

Wondering if Tripett Advanced Skin+Coat Formula Canned Dog Food is a good choice to mix it with Taste of the Wild.
Just making sure it is grain-free. It's not listed on dogfoodadvisors grain-free list but it's on http://www.dogc…..reats.html
I'm confused. Can someone tell me if this is 100% grain-free
thank you
Dog is doing great, no more pain at all. She's keeping up with my 3 month old puppy.
