First I have to say I'm sorry for not posting this sooner.  The summer was filled with my own health issues and I was remiss in letting the Tripawds community know.

3 months ago not too long after my last post we had to say Goodbye to Radar.  His health took a marked turn for the worse and the medication that gave him his sight back kept him from healing and fighting the other issues assumed to be caused by his brain tumor.  We tried to balance meds but he kept going downhill.  When he gave up even trying to get up to go to the bathroom (an important stage for a dog so proud) we knew it was time.

Goodbye my sweet Radar, my first pick, my champion, my friend, my heart dog.

As we left the vet's office a storm was rolling in and in the chasing clouds before the storm front there was one that looked exactly like a borzoi running full.  Radar running across the bridge.

I'm so sorry for your loss of your precious Radar.  Even though 3 months have passed I'm sure the ache in your heart is still present...I know it's still there for me and I just past the 5 month mark of letting my Leland go.

You do not need to apologize for not letting this community know sooner...you need to take care of you and your health.  This community will always be here for you when you're ready.  We all understand the loss of a beloved furkid and it's one of the toughest things for us humans to go through especially after being on this journey with a Tripawd.

When you feel ready we would love to see some pictures of Rada...seeing him the clouds was a definite sign from your precious boy.

Surrounding with hugs.

Like Sahana said, there is absolutely no need to apologize, and I also want to express my deepest sympathy and sorrow for your loss of your sweet Radar.  I also noticed he is a long time member and one of the original Tripawds here, and for that I want to thank you as well.......If it weren't for all of you founding members, this wonderful community might not be here for the rest of us needing the loving, caring, uplifting support to get through this awful journey with our beloved pups and kitties.

I love that you saw your precious Radar in the clouds running for the Bridge....I often catch myself looking up on a beautiful sunny day with those puffy clouds and hope to see my Tripawd angel Polly, or another of my Lab girls that have gone before her....one of these days I know I will.....

May the pain in your heart ease in time, and may all happy memories of your sweet Radar remain there forever.....he will always be with you, always....

My sympathies for your tremendous loss of your beloved Radar, your heart dog... time knows no limits when it comes to grief... and no need to apologize. We are here today, tomorrow and a year from now... we are always here to comfort you!

Stay close to us if it helps and know that an entire Tripawd community is wrapping you up in a big hug! And your Radar was surely met by my Shelby ... 7 1/2 months over the bridge so she knows the drill!

Much love

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

Connie,

I had to add one more thing....I would certainly be remiss if I didn't add something very important..... You were so blessed to have Radar for so long and being able to beat this ugly cancer, you were one of those celebrated success stories that will give so many others inspiration to also fight with their much loved companions. Radar was a true Tripawd Champion prince, and will live on forever here with all of us. I also know, there is NEVER enough time with our beloved fur babies. Never enough.......

Sending more {{{hugs}}},

Connie, I couldn't believe this post came from you and I am so very, very sorry for Radar's passing. Please don't feel badly about not posting until now, take care of yourself and your family first, just as Radar showed you. I hope that whatever is affecting your health is a thing of the past in no time.

Ohhhhhh Radar. Wow. You will be missed SO much. What a ride, what an amazing, long, inspawrational life you have had. To know that you are with our angels at the Bridge now just makes my heart sing though and it's what is giving me comfort as I think about your new status as "Angel Radar." Boy how I can picture you with Zeus and Jerry and Shadow and Trouble and Calamity and Genie and allllll those amazing Tripawds who were on their journey at the same time you were when you joined us back in 2008.

For those who didn't notice at first, Radar and Connie joined us when Spirit Jerry was still lovin' life here on earth, back when this community had maybe a hundred or so members. It seems like a million years ago! Who would ever guess that Radar would be the one to blow every single bone cancer statistic out of the water, to go on living life as the handsome, sparkly and goregous fun-loving dog that he was! And now, he leads the great pack in the sky, watching after all the new Tripawds of this world, showing them that life is good after losing a limb, that cancer is just a word, it's not a death sentence. Radar is HOPE.

I would like to share some photos of him with y'all. You can see more at Conine's Eidolon Borzoi website and follow his progress in these Tripawds posts that Connie started. As she said one time:

Since the moment he was born Radar has been special to me and I guarantee you that your feelings for what makes a dog special do not change after amputation.  In fact, the versatility, strength, joy and ability to adapt that they continue to show you only make you admire and love them more.

Connie, our hearts go out to you and the pack. He will be missed tremendously. Please come back any time and share more stories so that the community can get to know him all over again.

I'm so sorry to hear Radar has gone on.  Our Max started his journey here on Tripawds just a few short months after Radar.  I think that makes us both "old-timers!"  smiley I remember your boy well.  Radar has been an inspiration for all these years to so many! He fought such a courageous battle, and he will never be forgotten!!  God-speed Radar!

Oh gosh, trying to write through the tears. Put it off a bit thinking I would be able to write without crying...not!!!

I also have had the privilege of being able to get to know the Miracle Dog Radar through your previous posts. Everyone has said it all so well.

Yes, you were blessed to have Radar well into his senior years....what a gift...AND...so much more daily routine to miss! I know the void seems unbearable. But also know the glorious memories pf thousands and thousands of happy tail wags, sloppy kisses and furry snuggles will continue to push the sadness away, slowly but surely.

These pictures are beautiful! And they show a very happy dog living life to the fullest!!! A well lived, well loved life!! A life that will contue to inspire and offer hope!

Cannot imagine the pawty at the Bridge welcoming Radar home! Being greeted by old friends and lots of newbies! I'm sure Radar is wuite the legend at the ridge! He sure is here!

Stay connected. We u understand.....

Sending lots of love.....

Thank you all so very much.  Posting this brought back the tears and reading all the wonderful responses and memories have kept them flowing.  I have always been thankful for Tripawds even if I haven't been posting and have sent others here for inspiration.

Radar was more than special.  Thank you Jerry for sharing his pics.  Here is my fav tripawd pic of him running in the snow looking as beautiful and powerful as any dog can be in the prime of health.  I find myself looking at this one over and over again.

Radar was indeed special.  He never had chemo or cancer treatment.  He had a good diet and an attitude that kept him leader of the pack until the very end.  I myself have been diagnosed with the dreaded C word and have been striving to keep his attitude alive during my own treatment and recovery.

I remember some of the posts I read early on in Tripawds.  Once surgery recovery is over, the dogs don't think they are different.  Let them continue to be the wonderful creatures we love as if there were no changes and they will prove how strong they really are.

Hugs to everyone here Connie and Angel Radar

To be able to have Radar as your role model, your coach, your beacon of hope and inspiration while navigating through your own health challenges....what a gift....what a special gift.

You've been Radar's Guardian during his earthly journey, and now he is yours.

To have Radar as your Guardian now, just know that "you are protected"x

I can see why this picture of him frolicing in the snow is one of your favorites. Radar running free and happy, just enjoying the bliss of "being Radar"! It doesn't get any better than that!

Yoj take care of yourself! You have a whole lot more of Radar's legacy to share with the world!!

Sending love,

Oh Connie, I love this picture of him, he's a snow angel there and soooo gorgeous.

As official "old timers" like Maximutt's people, you and Radar are granted a special place in Tripawds history. Being here in those early days helped Jim and I realize what a need there is for this community, so that when our Jerry became an angel, Radar and all the other active members at that time gave us the strength to continue when we thought we didn't have it in us. Thank you so much for that.

I'm sorry to hear about your own diagnosis, I know that's got to be scary. When it comes to dealing with our own adversity, even as angels our Tripawds sure know how to keep us focused on what really matters. From up above, Radar will guide you and be your strength if things get ruff. Please know that you can always talk to us, we are here for you especially now. By the way have you seen our "Tripawds Alumni" Forum? It's where members can feel especially welcomed to stop by and stay hello to pawrents of previous and current Tripawds. It's a lot of fun and we hope to see you there.

Much love coming your way.

Connie,

Those pictures of Radar are breathtaking......he was a gloriously beautiful and happy dog.

I also want to express my sadness for your own diagnosis of this awful, ugly "c".......my words are not as good as Sally's words, so I will just say that I completely agree with her; You have been Radar's guardian during his earthly journey, now he is yours........I could not have said it any better than her.

Please check in with us when you can, to let us know how you are doing......you will be in my thoughts and prayers as well.

Connie,

Very sorry to hear of Radar's crossing. When I started on Tripawds I remember reading Radar's amazing story and I hoped and prayed that Tahoe would have quality and quantity post amp like Radar. We always want more time with our buddies and there never would be an acceptable time tom let the cross.

The lessons Radar taught you hopefully will allow you in your struggles with that damn "C"!  I trust you will fight and beat this darn disease, making Radar proud.

Please share your thoughts, wisdom and support with the many others on here when you feel ready.

Keep fighting...
