Super great photos John!

What a special, special day in Abby's honor!

Linda has got me a little worried though!  She was so beautiful starting out!  I hope the Bernster isn't rubbing off on her!

Her Retired AvatarComet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly  January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.

Much as I'd enjoy blaming Linda's dirt-loving habits on Bernie bin Laden, unfortunately I can't. She's been like this as long as we've had her. As soon as she gets wet, Linda finds the nearest patch of dirt or sand and flops around in it, wallowing and snorting like a pig until she's thoroughly coated from head to toe, which also works it as deep into her fur as possible so we can enjoy it around the house later after she dries off. Then she prances around and looks for someone to jump on so they can get as gloriously grubby as she is.

Max used to look at her with a puzzled expression, trying to figure out why she was doing something that dopey. Then, since he was Max and never worried too much about things he didn't understand, he'd deal with it by biting her in the ass until she got mad enough to stop wallowing and chase him around instead (in addition to being a grimy pig, Linda is easily manipulated).

As many faults as Bernie has, he's a lot cleaner than she is. Achieving Linda's level of sheer filth takes more time than he's willing to invest, since there are so many other things that require his personal destructive attention. I'd like to think that Abby would have had more sense than both of them if they'd ever met.

For some reason I can't read Abby's blog, it just goes blank.  That makes me sad, but I smile thinking you all had a wonderful time in her memory.

I love that Bernie is FINALLY worn out!  Jim and Rene, you should consider staying closer to Bernie and Lindas family, you would be doing California a huge favor :)  The state may even compensate you!

Elizabeth and Sammy

Diagnosed with osteosarcoma in the right front leg 8/23/10, leg fractured 8/27/10, leg amputated 8/30/10 http://sammyand.....pawds.com/   I couldn't begin to say how special Sammy is to us.  Living and laughing with and loving this wonderful boy is priceless.

Hmm, that's funny about the blog. Not sure what is happening as I just logged on to it and it looked ok on my end. It's still there!

I'd like to think that Abby would have had more sense than both of them if they'd ever met.

As for Abby's level of sense… she didn't necessarily like to roll in the sand, unless there was something stinky in it:

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. All is well at Abby's Tripawds Blog too:

So I was wondering…. what was with Wyatt being in the water?  Last I remember he was NOT a water dog.  Maybe he is channeling Abby?

It was pretty cool that he swam! First time! I think Angels Jerry and Abby and Max let him know they were watching and it would all be good.

(Not channeling her though… She never swam once. I hope that doesn't make her seem like less of a beach babe. :) She only liked to get her legs wet. Didnt' want to mess up her hair I guess – typical super model.)
