Oh Donna, I can't imagine.  That situation was always a fear of mine.

Lindsay - the pictures are priceless! Thank you for sharing, keep them coming. You are still family, we are still here for you.

Paula and Nitro

Nitro 11 1/2  yr old Doberman; right front amp June 2014. Had 6 doses carboplatin, followed by metronomic therapy. Rocked it on 3 legs for over 3 years! My Warrior beat cancer, but couldn't beat old age. He crossed the Bridge peacefully on July 25, 2017, with dignity and on his terms.  Follow his blog entitled "Doberman's journey"

Such a beautiful boy, Lindsay, and so happy and content.  Wonderful photos.

On October 27, 2016, nearly 6 months after amputation, and 18 months since his cancer likely started, we lost Pofi to a recurrence of Soft Tissue Sarcoma in his spine quite suddenly.  His canine sister also succumbed to cancer on March 1, 2019 - we lavished her with our love in the interim, but life was never quite the same without her only real canine friend. Cliff kitty had to leave us, too, suddenly, in August 2019. Lucia kitty grieved all these losses, but helped us welcome two new Lurchers into our home and our lives, Shae and Barley.

Run free, Cooper!

Lindsay, we are all here for you--even in the middle of the night--and we all do understand.

Kathi and the Turbotail April Angel...and the Labradork

Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!

UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!

Oh I am so sorry .... I totally understand your pain and it is horrible. Shelby was my first dog on my own .. as a single girl .. and losing her was the worst thing I thought I could ever go through (2nd to losing my dad). But the greatest gift we can give them is to try and remember the good, laugh at the happy, smile at the photos and grieve knowing that we loved the greatest love story of all time and be sad but know in our hearts we did right by them by releasing them from their tired body.

Sending love and hugs ... Cooper had a beautiful smile! XO

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

Li da, those lictures speak VOLUMES about how well Cooper is!!! He really, really loved relaxing in on those comfy pillows and blankies!

And his sweater...that sweater with a "statement"!! OMD!!! Cooper certainly has a great sense of humor!!

I hope, as time passes, I sincerely hope these great memories will remind you how loved and how happy this boy was with you during his earth time.

I also hope you find some small comfort in bringing your boy's ashes back home to be with you in a special piece of honor. Many have made little gardens and planted a very special tree or shrub or flower.

Thank you soooo much for posting these treasured photos! And don't stop!!

Lots and lots of love

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

so, so sorry to hear that you lost Cooper.  We all feel your pain.  I want him back FOR YOU.  I lost my Sweet Ted on 30 November.  He also deteriorated very quickly.  I miss him terribly still.  It will get better/easier...  Hugs to you.

Not sure it's my place to post here, as I am not in the same situation as so many of you, the little scare we had with my pup's cyst or whatever and Una's happy-go-lucky one-legged-ness are worlds away from the day-in-day-out, hard beating of cancer and the anticipatory loss that accompanies it, let alone actually losing a dog, which I have yet to do.

Just wanted to say that I am very impressed by how gracefully everyone here manages to carry their individual burdens as regards their furry family members' trials and hope to follow that example in the (hopefully distant) future when I lose my fur- and feather-babies.

Also, Cooper-such a handsome, happy-looking boy! Clearly you took wonderful care of him as he looks so peaceful in those photos. heart
