I posted their info a while back on the referral page, but here's their website: http://www.gvsvet.com/ We saw Dr. Hamilton.
They have been incredibly compassionate these last couple of days. They are trying to make this as easy as possible for us, if there is such a thing. They have really gone out of the way to help us through this.
Thanks again to everyone. I can't even begin to tell you how important this website is, and how much your support has meant to us. I hope that all of you have much more time with your tripawds than we had with ours.
RIP Skyler Murray-Molen

OnlineI'm a so sorry about Skyler. I couldn't let your pain get lost in the previous topic. He deserves a special goodbye post so we can send our condolences. This is why I moved your post.
I'm so very sorry we didn't get enough time with Skyler but we are so happy you were able to share your journey with us. He was loved by some wonderful people.
Many hugs,
Comet's mom
Comet - 1999 to 2011She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
Jane & Cathy,
I'm truly sorry to hear about Skyler. I too wish we would have had more time to get to know her and the family. It sounds like you have some great support…..that's a blessing. Please accept my condolences.

Dear Jane and Cathy,
I'm so sorry to hear about Skyler. Your beautiful boy is pain free now, but it's still so difficult. We will keep you in our hearts.
Sending lots of hugs across the miles,
Susan
Thank you everyone! I would like to make a small correction though. Skyler was a girl, not a boy. Since this post was moved from another post (thank you, by the way), I would like to just put a short recap of our journey for those who might not have seen it.
Skyler was diagnosed with a Mast Cell tumor, had her leg amputed, went through chemo, and then had the cancer spread to her spleen and lymph nodes. It also caused stomach ulcers. This all happened in a 3 month period. She was really suffering, and it was obvious she was miserable….in pain, couldn't eat, etc. We had to let her go with dignity. Cathy and I held her and as she crossed over Rainbow Bridge. It was incredibly difficult, but we have no regrets. It was the last thing we could do for her….the last gift we could give her.
We still have her sister, Chloe, who will probably end up spoiled more than she already is!

OfflineDear Jane and Cathy,
I am so saddened to hear about Skylar and am so so sorry for your loss. I remember when you first posted about Skylar and reported her good progress. This cancer can be so unpredictable and just downright evil. This really hits home for so many of us who face this same thing. My heart goes out to you. Take comfort in knowing that Angel Skylar will always be right by your side watching and smiling over you.
You are in my thoughts and prayers. My deepest condolences.
Kami (Mackenzie's Mom)
Hi again,
Thanks for your correction! I was second guessing myself as I was typing and should have gone back to the original post. So sorry for my mistake. Skyler was a beautiful GIRL! How could I have missed that?? You made such a difficult decision for her out of so much love. Your love for her was evident in all of your posts. We are sending more hugs, and wishes for peace for you both.
Susan
I'm not sure where to post this, so I'm starting here. Skyler's sister Chloe has been exhibiting signs of stress. I think it's starting to hit her that Skyler is gone. She's been roaming around the house looking for her, and just today she's been kind of wimpering for no apparent reason. We've checked her over carefully for any signs of pain or something physically wrong, and we've been giving her lots of love and attention. We're trying not to over do it, as we think that could signal to her that something is horribly wrong. What signs should we look for as far as depression? How do you know if your pet is depressed? What can you do about it if they are?
Thanks for any help you can give us.

OfflineI am always heartbroken to know we have lost another of our warriors. There just is no pattern, we don't know what to expect when we begin the journey, but we all know when we begin the end will come. Some of us have to make the really difficult decision about when to let go, and those are particularly hearbreaking. Each passing takes a little from me, but leaves a little behind that will always be a fond memory.
I believe the partner pets do grieve the loss. I will be interested in the replies to this one, as I am certain when Trouble's time comes, Duke will be totally devistated. He doesn't like to be separated from her at all.
I am sorry Skyler's end had to come so soon, and that the journey was a difficult one for you. May the sweet memories soon replace the sorrow.
RIP sweet Skyler. Run free at Rainbow Bridge.

Offlinejane & cathy, we are so sorry to hear of your loss, skyler seems to have been a brave girl – you gave her a final gift of dignity by being brave yourselves and letting her go. when we lost our boy phill in 2000, jane was only four years old at the time, and she went through several weeks of 'stress' – wondering where he was, why is everyone sad, etc. i think it is normal for pups to mourn. blessings to you guys and chloe during this tough time.

OnlinePlease, please please forgive me about the boy thing. I had Henri on my mind and wasn't even thinking clearly! Of course she is a girl and she was a wonderful girl!

Jane and Cathy,
I am so sorry to hear about Skyler. I had so hoped that things would turn out differently. As hard as it is to let her go, please know you did the last thing you could do for her. You are in my prayers.
When we had to let her go our lab, Bentley, who was only six months older than she was, would sit by the gate and wait for her to come home. It was heartbreaking. Out other dog, Marley, (not to bright) didn't seem fazed. Bentley and Marley still had each other so I think that helped Bentley to come around but it was a hard month or so.
Jake's brother, Wolfie, really didn't start to get better till he got a new kitty sister but his Mom can tell you all about that.
It is hard for them, too.
Again, I am so so sorry.

OfflineRun free sweet Skyler. Keep an eye on your pack from the bridge and guide them to find the strength they need to move on in peace.
Jane and Kathy: We have no experience with a sibling dog missing a pack mate who has passed. The best advice we have heard, however, it to try and proceed with life as usual. Pretend everyhting is normal around Chloe and reward her positive behavior. (Remain upset around her, and she will too.) If you need to vent your grief, that's what we're here for!
Warmest wishes to you during this difficult time.

OfflineJane and Cathy, we are so sorry, our hearts are heavy today with this news.
Skyler was a lucky pup to have such loving, compassionate and wise pawrents as you both, and Chloe for a sister. Grieving is so hard, but we hope you can take comfort in all of the memories that you shared together. And always remember that although Skyler has gone on to another journey, her spirit will stay strong in your hearts. That's one thing that never goes away.
As for siblings and grief…we actually talked about it a while back, in these posts (in chronological order). I hope this helps:

Many, many hugs to you all. Please come here anytime you want to talk OK?
