hi all just to let you know our beautiful boy passed away today. He began coughing blood and along with him stopping eating and generally not being himself we made the decision to let him go. It was a rapid decline.
We are completely heartbroken. We were there at the end and it was very peaceful at the vets.
Would we make the decision to amputate again? YES!!! Definately! We had some beautiful moments with him in the last few weeks. He was happy and in no pain. We had our moments to love him that little bit more and squeeze him that little bit tighter.
Goodnight my darling boy. I could not have loved you anymore 💔

October 15, 2000 to April 8, 2014
Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

Nitro 11 1/2 yr old Doberman; right front amp June 2014. Had 6 doses carboplatin, followed by metronomic therapy. Rocked it on 3 legs for over 3 years! My Warrior beat cancer, but couldn't beat old age. He crossed the Bridge peacefully on July 25, 2017, with dignity and on his terms. Follow his blog entitled "Doberman's journey"

I am so sorry to hear this news. It is heartbreaking whenever one of our tripawds passes, especially when they just didn't get enough time. You are in our thoughts.
Otis - 106 pound lab/Dane mix, lost his right front leg to osteosarcoma on Febuary 9, 2016. Four rounds of carboplatin completed in April, 2016. Lung mets August 25, 2016. Said goodbye too soon on September 4, 2016. Lost his adopted sister, Tess, suddenly on October 9, 2016. likely due to hemangiosarcoma.
Wherever they are, they are together.
Claire, my heart breaks for you, I'm deeply sorry Max got his wings. That call to set our animals' free of pain is gut-wrenching, but you did right by Max and followed your heart to help him be whole again. His spirit will stay strong forever, and always be by your side.
Do you have any photos of him you'd like to share? We would love to celebrate Max's beautiful life with you if you're up to it.

Claire and Dan, I am so very, very sorry and so saddened thst sweet Max had to head to the Bridge. Although I saw this when you first posted it, too many tears to try and type. Not sure I've got it together any better now, but I needed to reach out to you and Dan.
This Gentle Giant jumped into our hearts from day one...as did his humans! The bond, the love and devotion you have is so special. It came shining through with every post. Your ability to make the most of every precious bonus day is such a testament to your determination to not let this piece of crap disease rob you of your time together. You made each day MAX's DAY! And two months in doggy time equals about a year in human years!
You already know that Max chose you so he could know what love and being adored felt like. He also chose you because he knew you would always take care of him. He knew when he told you he was ready to leave his failing earth body, you would release his Soul and let him be free of pain and healthy and whole again. You never, ever let him down, and he knew you wouldn't when it came time to love him enough to free him.
We know yiur hearts are still hurting. We know the void and break in your day to day routine without Max is still painful.
We also know that Max left you with thousands of happy memories to help push the sadness away! That's what he wants you to remember! That's what he's telling everyone at the Bridge about! And everytime he woofs your name he wags and wags! 🙂 And he knows everytime you me tiin his name a smile floats across yiur heart.
I soooo hope you will share more "anything Max" with us...and pictures too! Gentle Giants take the best pictures! I jave aa feeling you have a lot of pictures where he is smiling 🙂

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
