Sometimes you just have to make a choice between a husband or a dog.

Sooo what's your new dog's name?

Nurse Lucy is grieving too as is Chandler. Andyou are completely andutterly destroyed. Try not to think about not feeling as close right now to either dog. It's just the grief.

Alwwys sending you love.

Sally and Hsppy Hannah

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

Thank you, I was feeling like a cold, ugly person. Thank you for replying to my posts. You have to be feeling th esame things I am, yet you take the time and caring to bring positive thoughts to others. You are a GEM Sally! A precious gem. I do not know what I will name my new dog when the time comes. Note I said when not if. Nurse Lucy is so hyper it is hard to get her to stop long enough to bond. Chandler is definitely grieving. He makes me feel so bad for him. We originally got Ty to be his buddy, as he seemed lonely. I had a dream about TY last night. He was a Tripawed and was walking right beside me. I feel a bit better this morning for some reason. The dream seemed to bring some comfort. There was also something mingled in the dream about my husband wanting to take him to Take your dog to work day. I was telling him no, not a good idea. I must have heard something during the day about yesterday being Take your child to work day. with love:Lori and Angel-dog TY

Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Our thoughts and prayers are with you Lori and Ty. Try and not beat yourself up, as everyone moves through the grief process differently, nothing wrong and no judgements made.

Hang in there, as there are many people here to support you.

I think that today I finally have accepted that I made the best decision for my boy when I let him go. Oh it is one of the hardest things I have ever done. I have second guessed my decision over and over, what if? Today, I found his records from his last " well visit " he got his vaccines then also. What is the verdict on vaccines? I had read they can cause problems. He seemed quite healthy then. Anyhow, his weight was 88 lbs. he was my big, strapping boy. Terribly strong also. I always how'd to pull the car right up to the door at vets or he would literally drag me across the parking lot to get in the car. The day I let him go, he weighed 69lbs.and we had to literally pick him up and put him in the car. sad: I was feeding him 4 meals per day, but the cancer was just eating away at him. I know the leg and shoulder weighed some , but the fact is, he was just being overtaken by a force we could no longer fight. To do so would have not been best for him. Will I second guess again? Probably. He had lost so much weight in his head. I told him he had a cute little dinosaur head. Cancer may have stolen his health, strength and ultimately his time here on earth, but the one thing it can never, ever steal away is my love! He will always be remembered with much love! Miss My Ty Guy!

So much truth here, Lori, for all of us, wherever we are on our paths. We've always been German Shepherd people. The animal control officer claimed that's what Roxie was. Soon as I saw her my head said that's a Samoyed smile, head, and tail, and I don't know that breed. She bounded over, kissed me, and there went my heart. She was the best dog we ever had for 15 months until she took a big chunk of our hearts right over The Bridge. She was my More Dog, and she taught me so much in that too-short time. Quad GSD Smokey now has a new old-ish quad GSD sis and we both keep calling her Roxie by mistake. She doesn't mind, though.

I love Christine's thoughts about the "other doggers"; she's so right about the healing and comfort to be shared. Our more dog-loving kitties have been through several dog losses now, and each seems to both seek and offer that closeness.

It takes what it takes for each of us and in our own way. Be gentle with yourself and let things unfold; you'll find yourself on the right path although maybe not one you'd planned.

Hugs all around, Liz and Angel Roxie Lou

I know how hard it is to come to that realization, lots of us have been there and understand. And yeah, we all second-guess ourselves about it at different times, but it just gets easier to accept. You were his guardian and you did what was best for him, it's hard but it was the right choice under the circumstances.

As for vaccines, that's a big issue and lots of discussion going on about that, especially as they pertain to dogs with cancer.

Scared to do any more with the dogs I still have. Especially the oldest one. He will be 11 this July. I have always done shots, because that is what they tell you to do. I have heard that there is a test( I think called a titre) something like that that will say how much immunity they still have. I had already decided, no more for Ty. Today, Chandler was looking for Ty. Was heartbreaking. He kept whining and looking down the driveway. I still have to barricade Lucy when I go away for more than an hour or so. I have been putting up a gate instead of shutting the mud room door. That way Chandler can see her. Maybe I am just putting to much human thought into it. I just feel that after 8 years of companionship, he is probably feeling a bit lonely and lost without his buddy. I have been trying to give him a bit of extra attention. Lori and Angel-dog Ty. I got his garden finished, will post pictures later when I get them put onto computer.

Hi Lori

Just wanted to send some hugs your way.

I have been reading your posts and wish there was some way I could help that away some of the pain of your grief.

Keep posting....I think writing down your thoughts probably helps you to process them......

Hugs

Linda and Tucker

Thank you! I have not shed a tear in 48 hours. I think there are none left. I really just feel numb. I know it will hit again. Right now I am just trying to adjust to the hole he left. He had a big personality and a big heart. I agree, writing down the thoughts helps and I don't drive my family nuts talking about it. Thanks for listening to me Lori and Angel-dog TY.

I think we do get to a place where we are cried out ... I was that way for a bit and it worried me that I couldn't cry for her and did that mean I didn't love as much as I thought I did? Then I found the tears would come back. I think we do get numb. I feel that way. There is a definite hole in my heart and I can function alone for a couple of hours before I have to nap to escape ... I think writing about Shelby is helping me and I am sure sharing happy memories of Ty help you too. Do what you need to do for you ... no one can rush this ... it is a process... sad, painful but I am hoping you find more peace each day!

Hugs!
