Just wanted to tell you Eurydice earned her wings June 12th, quite a while ago ...

I gave all of her food away, one of her treasured toys when to Édouard's new Dane puppy  (the friend who was with me at the vets when she went to sleep) but I kept everything else.

Eurydice's possessions, photos, cards friends sent etc etc are all with me alongside her ashes and paw print.

And her dribble is all over the back windows of my car and will stay there forever.

Everytime I take my car to service or the garage I give everyone strict instructions NOT to wash the windows or vacuum the safe, where she would travel.

Regardeless of what anyone might think of this, I look in the back when I'm driving and I feel Miss Cow closer to me and on the road to more adventures.

Charlie is never too far from you, just look at all the wonderful signs!

I particularly love the fact you found his paw prints in separate days, Charlie knows what he is doing, the sweetheart 💗

You and him are twin souls, you can be sure he'll be waiting for you when you earn your own silver wings 💕🕊💕

😘😘🐮💫✨🌟🌹

Eurydice 77kg/170lb Great Dane limping end of April 2016, amputation (right front leg/osteosarcoma) 4 May 2016 6 courses of carboplatin followed by metronomic therapy, lung mets found 30 Nov 2016. 3 courses of doxorubicin, PET scan 26 Jan 2017 showed more mets so stopped chemo. Holistic route April 2017. Lung X-ray 5 May 2017 showed several tennis ball size mets, started cortisone and diuretics. Miss Cow earned her XXL silver wings 12 June 2017, 13 months and 1 week after amputation and 6 1/2 months after lung mets, she was the goofiest dawg ever and is now happily flying from cloud to cloud woof woofing away :-)

I started a post here a bit ago, got sidetracked and it disappeared.  I have an appointment to go to now so for now THANK YOU for all the kind support.  I hope I can repay it in the future.  And I hope when I get my wings they are not lead!

I listen to music a lot, Pandora.  One of the great things with a smart phone.  Anyway heard a song this morning, that I've heard many times before but not since Charlie passed.

Van Morrison - Reminds Me of You, first set of lyrics, I think we can all relate.

I miss you so much, I can't stand it

Seems like my heart is breaking in two

The head says, no, but my soul demands it

Everything I do reminds me of you.

I have to figure out the pics this weekend.  Anyway, several of the previous responses to my posts re ,my birthday inquired as to what Charlie would want for me.  I came across a pic of us walking.  If he was in a good mood he would start out by playing tug of war with the leash and then we would walk down the street, the leash in his mouth, pulling me along.  Who was walking who?  So that's what I think he would like,  to take me for a walk.  I'd like that also.  If I figure out how to post a pic I'll edit this post.

Thank you for the info on pics.  I will review it the first chance I get, prob. this weekend.  I know there is info on pics on the site.  I just don't seem to have any time lately and the last 2 weeks I have just been exhausted after work.

Well I'm going to put this here for lack of a better place.  Just need to let it out.  It's a beautiful spring day here and I left work early to get things done around the house.  But on the way home I started thinking of Charlie, this is the kind of day I would pick him up and we would go to the park for a great walk.  I've been a basket case since I got home.  I miss him so much.

We understand.  We get it.   Days like you had today  when the  waves of grief  hit you out of yhe blue like a tsunami are hard to shake off.   The only way through it is...well...through it.  To try and surpress the emotions just doesn't work.  Everyone of us here will tell you these "waves" never really go away, unfortunately.  Mercifully, they get further and further in between and the amount of time it engulfs us lessens.

This may not be the right time to bring it up (or maybe it's  the perfect rime), but I feel like Charlie ALREADY has a dog who needs to be loved and who needs a walking  pal, picked out for you .  And I don't  think it was Archer...maybe a pup closer to home .  May even be one of those funny looking dogs with FOUR legs!😎   Maybe it starts off as a foster?

Extra dose of hugs from all of us..

Well Sally, you know the rule . . . when you lose a dog, they take a piece of your heart, but when you get a new one, they give you a piece of theirs.  Over time, you end up with mostly dog heart, and that is a very good thing.

Thanks for the support.  It helps.  Unfortunately my wife does not understand.  I  want to find a new buddy who needs a home but she is not on board.  Well, when the right opportunity finds me I will act on it.

You guys/gals take care.

BTW Rene is making me 2 nice pcs for Charlie.  I can't wait to see them.

I have no doubt that when the time is right for both of you, Charlie will send you a sign in the form of doggie slobber and muddy paw prints! It took Admin and I a while to get on the same page about another fur kid. When we did, we knew it was the perfect time. You'll both get there too.

It's quite an honor to make those pieces in Charlie's memory, thank you. I'm almost done and can't wait to send them to you.

I just kind of fell upon this and I am still in disbelief over how I ever missed it!!

Do you still have the molds? I remember something from way back. Let me do a little research, I believe I have a good idea of how to help you make your paw prints the way you want them. I used to love to make pots and jewelry boxes out of clay. Glazed them, had them fired, etc. I had other friends that worked with ceramics. I'll see if I can find what I'm looking for.

You are not giving yourself time to grieve. And before you jump too fast, please remember that your next companion will not be a replacement, for nobody will ever "replace" that love. You don't want to put yourself in a place that you will always compare, because your new companion will always lose that way.

I do agree with Sally on two things. I think foster care is a great idea. There are lots of furbabies that need refuge while people try to find their forever home. I also believe in "failed"  foster care (guilty as charged 😎). I think Charlie will guide you to somebody that desperately needs you, and you will find a new place in your heart for love again. Charlie's place in your heart will always be his alone. But there is an unused, new place to nurture a new love that will be theirs alone. When that happens you will look up and your heart will warm up all the way down to your belly because you'll feel Charlie smiling down on you. I have experienced it. So please give yourself the grace to grieve. You can't stuff it down, it doesn't work that way. You are allowed to grieve your friend. And there isn't a time stamp on that either.

I adore your pictures. Can you have somebody copy them on to a thumb drive so that you can take them to Walgreens or someplace comparable to be properly developed and framed? They really are beautiful photos.

Don't time stamp your timeline here. You're here, we're here, and we will keep coming here until you find some wonderful reason to create a new post for the next chapter in your life. Until then, just hang out and don't feel guilty..please.

Sending warmth and peace to you over the miles,

Jackie and Huckleberry ❤️

Hugs,

I think I have the paw print down as of now.  I'll post as soon as I can figure out the pic thing.  Sorry, just not enough time right now.  I'm keeping an eye out for that fur baby that needs a good home.  Waiting for Charlie's "push".  Wife not on board but ......

Thank you for all the support I have rec. from this board.
