On Saturday I had to say goodbye to my darling boy Storm. He had battled the cancer for a year but in the end it proved too much for him. He was a beautiful, kind soul, teacher, protector and big brother to the Rommie girls. He helped so much to settle in the scared little puppies that arrived from Romania, showing them how to enjoy life, play with toys and swim. There is a huge hole in my heart that will always be there. Thanks to everyone on here who offered support, it was sorely needed at times.  Run free at the Bridge Storm, find your sister Meeka, I know she's waiting for you ❤️

So sorry for you loss! Wishing you peace in the days ahead.

Paula and Nitro

Nitro 11 1/2  yr old Doberman; right front amp June 2014. Had 6 doses carboplatin, followed by metronomic therapy. Rocked it on 3 legs for over 3 years! My Warrior beat cancer, but couldn't beat old age. He crossed the Bridge peacefully on July 25, 2017, with dignity and on his terms.  Follow his blog entitled "Doberman's journey"

My heart breaks for the loss of your beloved Storm... .know that Storm will always live on here as a true warrior! What a gift he brought to all of us and those puppies showing them to LIVE and enjoy life.

May the memories of Storm heal your shattered heart in the days and weeks to come. I know that pain all to well and stay close to us... sending you love and light!

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

Oh Chellie I'm so sorry!  Storm was so special to me because he started his journey just shortly before our Max did.  So I avidly watched for your posts and took such comfort in how well beautiful Storm was doing.  Even after we lost our beautiful Max I still needed to keep up with Storm.  It was like he was such a kindred spirit.  My heart sunk when I learned he had new mets but I watched as you did everything in your power to give him the quality of life you did give him.  Now you've come to the absolutely hardest part of this journey.  The time to let them go and send them on their way to be healthy and whole once again.  You knew when your sweet boy was done and you gave him the unselfish gift of release even though it broke your heart.  Fly free with those new Angel Wings Prince Storm!  I have no doubt that Max met him at the bridge and they are now talking about how much they were loved here on earth and what a "wild ride" they had.  Hugs to you at this hardest of times!

Chellie I am so very very sorry to read this, my heart breaks for you and your pack. Storm was king of the castle, leader of the pack and I know he will be so greatly missed.

Storm kicked butt over cancer. He thrived, he lived life to the fullest and his fighting spirit will never be forgotten. I love those beautiful photos you shared, he looks so strong and invincible! And in the big picture of things, he always will be that doggie. I hope you can find comfort in knowing that Storm left an impact on this world that goes on into infinity.

Sending lots of love your way. Please keep in touch and let us know how things are going with your pack OK?

I am so very, very sorry you had to say farewell to Storm.  What an incredibly handsome dog he was - truly beautiful inside and out.

Wishing you comfort in knowing he could not have had a better life nor been more loved.  Wishing him the sweetest dreams...

Lisa, Minneapolis

On October 27, 2016, nearly 6 months after amputation, and 18 months since his cancer likely started, we lost Pofi to a recurrence of Soft Tissue Sarcoma in his spine quite suddenly.  His canine sister also succumbed to cancer on March 1, 2019 - we lavished her with our love in the interim, but life was never quite the same without her only real canine friend. Cliff kitty had to leave us, too, suddenly, in August 2019. Lucia kitty grieved all these losses, but helped us welcome two new Lurchers into our home and our lives, Shae and Barley.

Sometimes in life we are blessed to be graced by the love of an extra special soul and your Storm sounds like he was a very special soul. There are never any words of comfort that can match the heartbreak, but I hope the wonderful memories Storm has left behind for you to cherish will bring you some peace.

Nope, no words to take the seemingly unbearable sadness away. And, unfortunately, it will seem unbearable for quite awhile. The intensity of this journey is like no other. The initial "diagnosis", the research, the amputation, the recovery, the care giving, the focus of making the most out of every single second, the bond, the non-stop loving and spoiling...all so very intense.

And you know what? If you were told that all this grief could be avoided, but you would never have had the privilege of having Storm in your life as your teacher, your protector, your "brother" to Molly and all the other Rommies, your best friend, your bundle of joy, your rock, your Warrior and inspiration to anyine starting this journey.....you would endure the grief if it meant you coukd have Storm by yiur side all these spectacular years!!!

Your handsome Storm will be a forever Legend around here! A ONE YEAR VICTORIOUS SURVIVOR....And that was AFTER mets were discovered around the three month mark (?). And it wasn't even the mets that caused his need to head to the Bridge! Storm has shown everyone that dogs can have wonderful quality time inspite of a gloomy prognosis after mets!!!

STORM WILL BE A BRIGHT BEACON OF HOPE forever around here!!! Nothing can dim that bright light of his!

Storm has infused so many happy memories in your heart that will never leave you! I know the sadness is so heavy and unrelenting right now that it's hard to focus on those great times together. Those of us who've had to let our dogs run free to the Bridge can all promise you that the happy memories will help push the grief further into the background...slowly but surely.

And you better believe that Meeka and Cara and Linda's MAX were all at the Bridge romping and frolicking with Storm as they went running through the fields and drinking from cool babbling brooks!

The pictures of Storm are absolutely mesmerising. Not only is he exquisitely handsome, but you can SEE what a gentle and kind Soul he is! We would love to hear more about Storm and see more pictures when you can. He will NEVER be forgotten here!

Surrounding you in Storm's eternal Grace...
