An unfathomable four and a half months since she left, and our hearts still ache for the loss of Pie. The suddenness of it, like a sink hole opening up and grabbing her, still leaves me with a feeling of being winded, unable to believe it, struggling for breath. This community has been just fantastic, not only because of the real affection I feel for Pie here, but also because I know so many of you know what it is to love a creature from the heart of your being, and also, sadly, what it is to lose them.

I've been hugely touched by the many tributes people have written and the gifts they have sent in honour of our Pie.

My friend, Viv, painted this portrait of Pie, on her last night in her "earth clothes"

Time moves on relentlessly, the seasons change. Pie left us in dark of a cold, cold Winter. Now it is Summer, the crops have grown tall, the roses are out in the garden, and the birds dart back and forth between the feeders and nests full of squawking chicks...

Right outside my kitchen window, the blackbirds have nested and are raising their second clutch.

There's one rather rounded one I've noticed, with a great deal to say, and a great deal of flapping at mealworm time to make sure she's first in the queue. When I'm standing at the window, she sits in the nest and stares straight at me with an expression I can't help feeling I've seen somewhere before.

My dear beautiful  Clare.❤

Your gift for expressing  the feelings of your heart has me in tears.  You put into words what the  pain n our heart feels like when there really are no words.  Yet you manage to do it.  That's  the Soul of a Poet.  That's  an Enlightened  Soul.  That's  the best human partner a dog could have.  You understand  when no language  exists.

Pie is so Pie in that sketch😊  So perfect!!  Pie loved being Pie😊  She had the best job.....just being Pie...and being  loved and adored by you and all of us is who had the privilege  of knowing her. 🤗

OF COURSE ELSIE PIE IS SHOWING HER PRESENCE  WITH A CHUBBY, FOOD-FOCUSED BLACKBIRD BABY!!   No doubt  in my mind!! No doubt!!  Pie picked one of the best forms to connect  with yoi!  And right in front of your window?.  Yes!!!  That's  your silly Pie!!  And probably somewhere  in all her baby feathers, she has a frosty fluffy feather or two.😎  I bet she chirps (squawks) more than the other babies roo!

Thanks for sharing  this with us today.  All of it.❤

Love

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

They visit in all different ways, letting us know that they are never far away.

Clare,

Sally is right on it.. you have a way of making the words send the feelings so clearly and truly. Got tears in my eyes, I really do know what that pain feels like and how it slices through you like a searing knife. I don't think Elsie will ever stray far from you. That determined little girl will always find a way to let you know that she has taken over as her mama's guardian angel. Such a strong dog with a very wise old soul. Even in her pictures she manages to show you that amazing intelligence that was such a huge part of her personality.

Isn't it so funny how when they want to 'tap' you on the shoulder you get it, right away. Your thoughts could be a thousand miles away and then all of a sudden you get that "feeling" and you know they just did it again heart

Lots of love and tons of hugs,

Jackie and Huck heartheart

Hugs,

Darling Clare 🌺

Everybody is right, you are indeed a poet at heart 💓

Missy Pie is definitely keeping a good eye on you and I bet she found the most strategic place to survey the oven ...

Liver cake for Meg again ????

How about meeeee ???

If there were any doubts (and of course there aren’t) closing up on Pie’s face and on the little chubby bird’s definitely confirms who they are!

Welcome home Elsie Pie, welcome home darling girl 💞💞💞

😘😘😘🐮💫✨🌟🌹

I agree with what everyone has written.  But looking at that picture of Pie and the baby bird Wow o Wow.  That is Pie for sure.  She is really keeping an eye on you 🙂

I agree with Karen all of them visit in ways we often wonder.  Maybe Pie was sending signs and you missed so she decided to let you know with the baby bird.  Hannah had to knock Sally silly with a rainbow over her ramp.  🙂

I love the picture your friend Viv painted of Pie.

xoxoxo
